How Are You Doing On CM?

Real Madrid Update:
Switched to a 4-2-3-1 formation and am pretty much dominating now, my loss to Barca aside (with injuries I was never going to beat them -- Benzema and Marcelo out, Bale just back from an injury, Pepe playing through pain mid-week and Modric/Ronaldo utterly stuffed after a long schedule). Barca honestly came up at the worst possible time, given my CL Match vs Dortmund was what I thought was must-win (didn't realise the group stage was home and away...)
Anyway, I got a transfer budget boost so I've locked in Alberto Moreno for the January window for way too much -- 19mil all up (incidentally, I started the transfer process the day I was playing against him). Means I can get rid of Arbeloa who has been pretty mediocre for me.
Next step is signing a half-decent central defender to cover for Varane/Pepe/Ramos (Varane has been in superb form while Pepe was out injured; deadly with his head from corners and constantly improving in defence), since Nacho isn't good enough IMO.
Also considering getting rid of Angel di Maria to strengthen something. He's overvalued for the role I'm using him in (bench AMC, usually replacing Modric after 70-odd minutes), and in Isco I have a squad replacement who is arguably far better.
Question then is over who I try to bring in. I'm not seeing too many holes in my squad atm.

You have to wait until they only have 6 months left on their contract, and then instead of making an offer, you should be able to offer a contract.

I had a mad go last night and finished the season, got my players fit and went on a mad run and easily won conference. Lost in Trophy final on penalties to Bristol Rovers. Now moved to Cambridge Utd ground as mine is being redeveloped and the new batch of youngsters were terrible this year so no idea why that is considering I had ones who went straight into the team last year. Got to within a few weeks of season and signed a Croatian under 19 international who looks like a great player for the future. Other than that I have really struggled to sign players with my dire budget. Looks like a season of struggle ahead while my youngsters improve.

Yeah, Roma have an unreal team. Got it installed on my Mac with Crossover, which is pretty awesome, and started a game with Everton. Forgot how bad our team is on this game, and what also doesn't help is the fact we're £20m in the red. Managed to make a couple of signings though, got Taribo West (legend) on a free, and signed imaginary CM cult hero To Madeira to boost the strikeforce. Can't see the season going particularly well though, never had any luck with Everton on CM01/02.

Pretty much. West was the go-to defender at the start of the game, so good on a free. Annoyingly my game crashed, so going to have to start again. Think I'll take on a bigger side to start with, get familiar with the game again, and then start a save with Everton. It's too big a challenge not knowing the game, and what tactics work.
Vidic is coming across to me in July, meaning I have way too many defenders in the squad now. Might try to sell Pepe depending on how things look by then.
How does one go about getting good at the transfer system? 44mil budget, looking at a spare CM, cheap GK and a decent LM ideally, I guess. I mean, I've got it -- may as well spend it, right?

Can't you loan them out?
Always a good way of reducing wage bill, get promoted then loan out the promoted team for the entire season so you can replace them.
The problem with signing players for poor/skint teams the bonuses shaft you when you do well.
At least I'm not taking the piss and calling it soccer in here

Started a new Sheffield Wednesday save the other day and had a distinctly average season, finishing 12th.
Went to check what the PL table looked like and saw this:
Haha, what? They had all their players and even hired Simeone mid-season. Truly baffling.
