Yeah, depends on how good your Assistant managers "Judging Player Ability" and "Judging Player Potential" attributes are, but for a complete beginner to the game, it's a decent place to start when it comes to seeing who's best in each position.

Started the Pentagon challenge last night. Secured a job in the Malaysian Premier League as predicted 2nd Kelantan. Got an okay squad, with a few very good players in key positions, mixed in with some awful Malaysian players. Turns out Malaysia have pretty much no decent players in any position, but due to the maximum of 3 foreign player rule, I'm going to just have to seek out the best of a bad bunch. What's not helping is that I started the game in January, which is after the end of the first Malaysian transfer window, so I'm stuck with the players I've got until April. Just beat Terengganu, who are one of the top teams, so that was pretty pleasing, just hope I can get a Top 2 finish, secure Champions League football, and give myself a chance of winning my first CL inside 2 seasons. Pretty fun challenge, enjoying it!

Yeah I got him for £7m with Schalke, for no apparent reason.

Monaco suck at managing players. They always stick guys like Rodriguez in the reserves and don't use them properly. Rodriguez is so good as well. When used as an AMR Inside Forward is an absolute gun. £5-7m for him is a steal!

Bugger, game ruined. Just been taken over by a Thai bloke and given £66m with wage budget trebled from £500k a week to over £1.6m a week. I wanted to do it on the cheap and now I like Man City. Not fair.

5 promotions, and you're only in 2019? How the hell did you manage that? I'm in my 4th season with Fleetwood on one save, am still in the Championship, and have found the move from League 1 to the Championship very challenging, how did you move up the leagues so quickly?
Pentagon Challenge going well, my squad is ridiculously small though. In my last Asian Confederations Cup match the computer had to generate Regen players for me to be able to put an XI out, and I unsurprisingly got beaten. Won 1, drawn 1, lost 1 in the ACC so far, so going okay. Reckon my major push for the Confederations Cup will come 2nd season though, once I've actually managed to build a squad. Found a player with an awesome name too, some dude called Gary Steven Robbat, great name for a Malaysian national. Have a young Aussie-born lad already at Kelantan called Brendan Gan who's been awesome as well, scores some incredible free-kicks, and is listed as Malaysian, so he's going to be the guy I build the team around. Really fun save actually, can see me sticking with this Pentagon Challenge for a while.

Having done it previously over a lot longer you know who to sign, who not to sign and what tactics are needed in each division.
For example with this Concord team as soon as I got budget for League 1 I went and raided Dinamo of Croatia of 5 players who came for free who all ended up decent Prem players in 2 seasons. Sell them on and you get your budget for the Championship/Prem etc... Just looked back through the seasons and FA Cup run in League 2 was huge, got to 3rd round and lost to Man U at Old Trafford. Must have helped budget somewhat.
It has been trial and error, took ages first time I did it but once you know how it is done the game becomes fairly easy. Also I go in with as bare a squad as possible and use loan market loads, use up wages on 4 or 5 real good players to give spine of team and loans fill side, no bench and no decent sub keeper so if I had got injuries i'd be stuffed, just hasn't happened. Been very lucky with this one. Think I had some judgement and an awful lot of luck to get this far this quickly.
Salisbury was too easy, they get massive sponsors all the way through. Almost the biggest in each division as you go up. Surely was a flaw with that one. Took a while though to get to Prem as I signed wrong players etc... Just loaded old Salisbury game in Championship, had just under £5m in sponsorship, crazy.
Leamington, I signed a bunch of 16 yr olds at end of first season. Had an England under 21 international playing in League 2 by time I got there and sold him for £1m+ addons which financed 2 seasons to get into Championship. Took 4 years to get up after that.

Really frustrating when you get that sort of thing. My inter team is set up in such a way that it really cannot defend or attack when down to 10 men. Someone being sent of usually means that the only option is to just play without a striker.
There are certain players who when booked you just know are going to do something stupid as well. Yuto Nagatomo was sold because he was totally untrustworthy, and Umtiti is getting into that sort of territory as well.

Dani Alves came in for this season, got sent off twice in 5 games so I fined him, led to a massive bust up and he will now never play again.

Never had a player refuse to play.
Had a few slap in transfer requests after fining them for a sending off.
