It doesn't matter how much they lose by, AFAIK what matters is how quickly they score the runs that they do make. Or are the run rates extrapolated to 20 overs these days?

KP, England are through if they win.
If you get bowled out, your NRR goes for 20 overs faced. Or else 300-6 (50) vs 80ao (10) would result in the winners being on negative 2...

Wright takes the catch. Could this be MOTM for the Watto lookalike? Not a sentence I ever envisaged typing, tbh.

Demolition job. Even in a 20/20 game, the result was already known sometime before the eventual end.

48 runs then. That's us through whatever, isn't it?

Fair play, great performance under pressure. KP doubtless made a big difference, finally getting to grips with the format it seems.

This is a laughable performance by Pakistan..I feel bad for their fans.. What happened to that unpredictable dangerous pakistani team..

they really need big hitters like Imran nazir, Abdul razzaq and navid Ul Hassan..

is the format like the ODI world cup? If Netherland go through they take points v England? If so this could be very good for other teams.

It basically will come down to "runs difference" if all the games go to 20 overs.

England are currently -1
Holland are currently +1

If England win this by 50, they will be +49, and Pakistan will be -50

That would mean Pakistan would need to beat Holland by 26 runs (to go to -24 as opposed to -25).

Obviously if they chase against Holland the maths becomes different.
Right, so Pakistan need to win by 24 runs. I fancy Netherlands will chase if at all possible- if Pakistan score 150, they can set themselves 126 to qualify. Let's hope so anyway, because otherwise the maths becomes impossibly difficult.

Well done England:)

Surprised me, and proved me wrong after the performance on Friday which was bereft of gumption. Wright has done well in these two matches, it has to be said. KP may have got the hang of the game at last. The bowling was solid today, Dimi and Swann made it much more cohesive and gave us lots of options. Colly really seemed a different man and I like his interview before the match. Fielding was excellent.

Fair play to Broad too, yeah I know he's a petulant, slappable, primadona who is over-hyped to buggery. Yet he does keep on coming back for more, and he does seem to learn from his mistakes (apart from the over-appealing which I was the brat would stop), so good on him, deffo quicker this summer too.
