will be interesting, never seen him but heard good things about him
pretty unlikely IMO, don't think picking him over Hogg would be the best idea on those surfaces.TT Boy said:Cricinfo.com suggest that Mitchell Johnson is likely to play tomorrow. Be interesting to see how he gets on, considering all the talk there’s been about him playing the first test at the Gabba.
Despite the fact that pace has been far more decisive than spin in the tournament thus far?aussie said:pretty unlikely IMO, don't think picking him over Hogg would be the best idea on those surfaces.
true, but as Murali showed earlier today, Harbhajan & Powar in game 1 & Patel in the Kiwis two games so far, once the spinner gets it right, there is enough in the surfaces for them to be a serious treat, especially bowling first.Mr Mxyzptlk said:Despite the fact that pace has been far more decisive than spin in the tournament thus far?
But considering that Andrew Symonds and Michael Clarke bowled more overs than Hogg in the last game and that Clarke looked really good in doing so, Australia may be willing to risk an extra seamer ahead of Hogg.aussie said:true, but as Murali showed earlier today, Harbhajan & Powar in game 1 & Patel in the Kiwis two games so far, once the spinner gets it right, there is enough in the surfaces for them to be a serious treat, especially bowling first.
Fairly certain that it's not a blunder in scheduling. The CT has been scheduled for a fairly long time now. Trust that you're not the first person to spot an 11-day break for India.Nishant said:Why do india have an 11 day brk away from the game! Is it actually because of diwali or jsut a blunder in scheduling?
With the exception of Taylor and Malinga, guys with extra pace have been the easiest to face. Lee, Harmison, Mahmood, the Pakistanis, Fernando etc etc simply come onto the bat at a nice pace and height (as they usually do in sub-continent)Mr Mxyzptlk said:Despite the fact that pace has been far more decisive than spin in the tournament thus far?
To keep the host in the tournament as long as possible. If India lost the first two games (despite the unlikely prospect of losing to England earlier), the concerns were that the interest in the tournament would dip.Nishant said:Why do india have an 11 day brk away from the game! My reference to pace meant quicker than spinners.social said:With the exception of Taylor and Malinga, guys with extra pace have been the easiest to face. It's medium pacers that have done relatively well because theyre basically bowling quick spinners and there is no pace for batsmen to use
but the thing is, Clarke and Symonds aren't consistent wicket takers....Hogg CAN take a bagfulMr Mxyzptlk said:But considering that Andrew Symonds and Michael Clarke bowled more overs than Hogg in the last game and that Clarke looked really good in doing so, Australia may be willing to risk an extra seamer ahead of Hogg.
If Ponting's not going to bowl Hogg, might as well get someone in who he will bowl. That, especially as McGrath looks far short of his best.

Symonds has played 11 and taken 7 wickets at 54.57
Hogg has played 10 and taken 5 wickets at 58
As much as i like Hoggs he bowl.ed poorly last game and has never performed in India, not saying he couldn't, but he hasn't done alot to ensure his selection. Interestingly of the 10 games that Hogg has played in India, Australia have only won 3. By comparison of the games Clarke in India has played the game against the WI was the first one that was lost.
i'll say, i could have swore Hogg had a better record in India, but yea he wasn't that superb in his previous visit in 2003 TVS Cup.Laurrz said:some interesting stats
