Ponting might not be elegant ... but when he steps into those off drives at the top of their bounce ... it's a pleasure to watch. One of the toughest shots to play, and rahter than hang back (ala Steve Waugh) he actually moves into the ball ... incredible. He is class. As is Hayden.
It's lucky that Ponting has scored 5000 test runs ... get real.

flair - u couldnt go past crowe in my eyes, one of the best batsmen i have ever seen live. ponting has got the best pull i have ever seen! and infact it reminds me alot of crowe - the movement and ease in whcih he plays it, along with the amazing power he can generate. gangully looks like a big mess at the crease bar his drives.

Who cares if someone is a flair batsman or not...no team in the history of the game scores faster than the Australians....thats enough for me.
And to that person who said Ponting was a loser, i suggest you go look at a recording of the world cup final....if that is losing, then give me a loser any day of the week.

It's a quality that isn't relative to a specific. Style is variable. Which means, VVS's flicks might look more elegant to you, but there would be others, who would've found an Andy Flower reverse sweep more enjoyable.chicane said:Yeh, but it's just how many and how much.
