Well, when Kerry Packer said I will give you coloured clothing and games under lights the authorities though he was mad and didn't want to go the way of the future, but in the end they saw the light.

no, super league was created to commercialize the game because the ARL was selling itself short. the players got better deals, tv coverage improved and media had a bigger share in the game.
it was never created to make the gme more interesting...

HaHa! And you're trying to label NRL people as dumb! I was referring to cricket, not Rugby League...Anyway it was Rupert Murdoch, not Kerry Packer who wanted a 'new' league.

Yes they were. Donald Bradman was chief selector at the time and was insistent that the new craze would not go ahead, it got so muddled that World Series Cricket had to have rebel tours and the like, the authorites were adament that the current way things were running would stay the same and be the future.

Anyone who witness the Dragons v Roosters game today would agree that the game is no longer 'not interesting'. The game was never dull, it just didn't have the marketability, and wasn't using it's potential to reach a greater audience, that's all that Murdoch wanted to do and what he does now. If you have fox, you get to see every game, we didn't have that before.
