English Domestic Season 2011

Bopara gets his ton. Looks almost straightforward for Essex now - not a bad effort given they were chasing 360. Played.

Hales doing the business for Notts in similar fashion. Eyes on Hove now - could well be in for a tough chase.

Durham wrap up the win, with Borthwick finishing on 48* and Stokes on 6*

good win for Durham, a great recovery to take the maximum 24 points..wouldn't have bet on that at the end of day 1

Indeed, but facing 38 overs of Dean Cosker in April isn't the hardest task in the CC.

Hales out just now to Andrew, having made 84  Read strikes his first ball for four. 55 from 21 overs with 5 wickets.

Six down  Mullaney b Wright 13.

Great rearguard, putting on nearly 100 in an unbroken 10th wicket partnership with Arif to secure the draw against Lanky

Notts won by 3 wickets with about 7 overs to spare. Read had fun at the end, brought up 250 with the one-bounce four and won the game with a six.

Good solid comeback victory from Durham today, Ian Blackwell's century gave them some impetus, before Onions and Borthwick took four wickets each to ensure they were chasing only a small total.

A fantastic result for Essex, considering this game came on the back of two disappointing defeats (and a hard fought draw), with batting collapses seemingly inevitable. Set 360 to win, Essex's big guns came to the party, Alastair Cook with 79 before Ravi Bopara and Matt Walker put on 217 and took Essex very nearly home. Bopara saw the job through, ending on 136 not out and boosting his own England chances in the process. Think Eoin Morgan may be looking on rather enviously and nervously from his Indian abode.

Yeah, I think it's a big innings for Bopara. Don't want him to take Colly's place, but we know he's favoured by the selectors, and gives us a bowling option, which the other contenders don't :(

To strengthen his bowling option, think he got through 23 overs the other day, which is a decent effort and suggests he must have been bowling reasonably well.

Love the fact he turned the IPL down to try and nail down the vacancy in the Test side, and hope he can maintain this kind of form for Essex.

Only the guy's second FC ton. Good stuff from the 21-year old.

I assumed they'd have to bat all day but I've just seen that Hants already lead by 80 - maybe one more session will do it for them?

Edit: Well never mind then.

Derbyshire crumbling at Grace Road, fighting to save the game now. Does Usman Khawaja have a reputation for not pushing on with starts? Scores so far of 16, 45, 35, 25.

Yes, I've always thought Dawson had some potential, but well done Somerset, still not sure about this start, Hildreth hasn't pushed on, and Hussein looks like a one-season wonder to me.

Tres is a god though, and I'm just praying for Kartik's return.

Yeah Hussain has all the makings of a one-hit wonder. Looks like he needed another good season under his belt before leaving Gloucs - not enjoying Taunton. Very few bowlers do, though.

Seems like a decent pitch down at Wormsley, interesting to see how Mendis goes today, apparently he wasn't dropped this week he had a back problem.

Also note that Maharoof has been called up by SL, thought it would take a bit longer but it was coming,

Mendis finally having a good game it seems. Unicorns get a good start, 65/0 after 10 overs, then Mendis comes on and takes two in two balls in his second over.

Perhaps the Sri Lankans could do with Vaas - bowled an opening spell of 5-2-6-2 against Durham.

Moeen Ali gives it some flight doesn't he? So does Choudhry, nice to see spinners not just darting them in.
