English Domestic Season 2011

115* from Ravi, great timing!
Yes absolutely. He'll have been disappointed with his first innings effort, great for him to come back and register a ton in the second. Does that edge him above Morgan in the pecking order ? I hope so, even though I'm a fan of Morgan.

Ajmal Shahzad had the best of a wet day in Headingley - 48 with the bat to help push the total past 350 before taking four of the Hants top six. Yorkshire well ahead in the match now but they've continually struggled to keep hold of their advantage this season, and with more heavy rain forecast for Saturday the draw still looks on.

I'll be headed down there tomorrow to have a look anyway. Hoping the weather holds, we really need to push on and get some points.

Yes very good day for Shahzad, good to see Bresnan bowl economically too. Yorks do look in complete control in this one against a struggling Hants side. And when you are struggling, you probably wouldn't hand pick a side including Tim Bresnan, Ryan Sidebottom, Ajmal Shahzad and Adil Rashid to play against. Throw in Steve Patterson and you've got a very useful County attack to match any in the country.

Yes,same here, if the whether holds off ,I'm off down tomorrow afternoon. They do need to start pushing on and making points up on the other sides above them, especially when they hold good positions in games.

Northants 5 best batsman by average all bat from 6 down. While a few more runs from Hall, Vaas and Middlebrook today and the three of them would have scored more runs this season than Northants top 5 combined.
Now numbers 7, 8 and 9 have scored more runs than Northants top 5. While Andrew Hall at 6 is averaging over 90 for the season.

Kent losing to Glamorgan by an innings. How embarrassing.

So KP isn't enjoying his first match captaining Surrey. over 200 behind and they lose two wickets in the first over. Looking to hold off an innings defeat tomorrow against the students.
Not to mention getting out to a 19 year old university SLA bowler.

David Masters has struck two big blows for Essex by removing Chesney Hughes and Usman Khawaja as Derby attempt to chase down 223. They're currently 21-2, but Essex do still have Lonwabo Tsotsobe to bowl.

Seriously difficult day to bat at Headingley with the ball swinging all over the place. Shahzad looked fiery too, and deserved his 5-for.

Root and Gale have done well to recover a bit here - 50 up. A lead of 200-250 could well be enough but they can't afford to sit on that. Need to tough it out today.

Derby now 94-4, left-arm spinner Phillips has just removed Dan Redfern for 29. Looks like being a thrilling finish. Their form man Greg Smith is in now and will be a big wicket, with Sutton to come.

Lopsy bowling better according to the Beeb commentary, decent pace and bounce. Still struggling with the no-balls though.

Greg Smith is a handy cricketer to have. Bowled first change in the first innings and snared out two with the medium pace and then in the second innings got 4 bowling off-spin. Far more consistent with the bat as well - use to open for RSA U19.

Greg Smith cleaned up by Wright. Essex close in.
Yes he's having a very decent season Smith, so that is a big step towards Essex winning this game, great strike from Chris Wright. Tsotsobe 6-0-27-0, not ideal from your overseas player when you need them to stand up in order to win a tight game.

Gloucester subsiding now against Northants. Down to Will Gidman to try and dig them out of a heap of trouble again. Kane Williamson struggling to come to terms with the English conditions early in his stay, he is only two CC games in though.

Durham closing in on saving the game against Somerset it seems. Stokes scored another ton. Another half an hour and that ones probably done.

Yes the lead heading towards 100 now, so they're starting to look safe. Very good rearguard action from Durham, as you say led by Stokes and Di Venuto. Stokes needed that, barring his hundred earlier in the season can't remember him getting anything like a score, although you are always going to get inconsistency with young players.

Will Gidman 116* and 76* out of 288 and 248/8 - good effort there, but not going to be sufficient to save the game from Northants.

When was the last time a University side beat a County side? What about by all but an innings?!

My heart bleeds for Surrey.

Warwickshire docked points for a poor pitch.

From the cricinfo article, sounds like an ideal pitch to prepare for the Indian team when they visit.
