Yes but against run of the mill club bowlers he did not impress

Just because he's rated as a quality International Leg-Spinner doesn't mean anything when it comes to batting in a club match. 1st of all it's his bowling that is rated, whilst your concerned by his bowling...you wouldn't expect Glenn McGrath to smash a club side around for a quick 50 even though he's a top class bowler...because he is, quite frankly, a rabbit, not much ability with the bat. Also club pitches arn't the best, and you said he opened the batting. A lot of club bowlers learn how to get the best out of their home pitches, medium pacers on green tops come to mind when I go back to when I played club cricket a few years ago.chris.hinton said:Yes but against run of the mill club bowlers he did not impress
Yeah I was about to say, his hit a couple of 50's this season vs higher opposition, he got one vs the Kent 2nd's and Iam certian he hit one for the first team as well.marc71178 said:For Warwickshire 1sts in games that count, he's batted quite well.
Not True they is a massive difference between county number 11 and club crickets, if Obuya played for my club he would bat in the top 5 but against 60-70 mph bowling he did not impress.... also it was not a green top and none of our bowlers know about our pitches as the groundman is shocking.....Rik said:Just because he's rated as a quality International Leg-Spinner doesn't mean anything when it comes to batting in a club match. 1st of all it's his bowling that is rated, whilst your concerned by his bowling...you wouldn't expect Glenn McGrath to smash a club side around for a quick 50 even though he's a top class bowler...because he is, quite frankly, a rabbit, not much ability with the bat. Anyway why are we having this convo? He's a bowler...
They took it Seriously the warwick lads and brought along Mo Shelkh and Obyna also some fringe members like Nick Warren, Tahir (Who broke micheal powells toe) also Jamie Spiers so they took the strongest availible side out.marc71178 said:In one game which is clearly not that serious.

Chris, I would never call it a joke match - I for one am glad that county clubs do that sort of game, but you must admit that there's no way that they'd play quite so relaxed in a competitive game (for a start Collins would be at 8 or 9!)chris.hinton said:They took it Seriously the warwick lads and brought along Mo Shelkh and Obyna also some fringe members like Nick Warren, Tahir (Who broke micheal powells toe) also Jamie Spiers so they took the strongest availible side out.

Well, the great hope Thorpe was asked to be on standby and turned it down.Bazza said:A low scoring game so Smith clearly in top form, but instead England have Robert Key on standby.
