Time for the Aussies to look positively over this thrashing - at least they don't have to work this weekend.

Oh, crap, as if the English ego wasn't big enough, now we'll have them singing about this all the way until the ashes. :( When are the ashes again? I hope they're soon, I don't think I can handle the "ENGLAND IS BETTER THAN NZ COZ WE BEAT AUSSIE AND NZ DIDN'T" for too long, should they win.
Why? We are far more reserved than that as a nation.

You would deprive us of one of our rare days in the sun? You've spent too long drinking the old pints of 'heavy' with your skirt-wearing pals oop north, Bob.

Vaughan before this ODI...
Batting average: 23.64
Bowling average: 46.50

Vaughan after this ODI...
Batting average: 24.91
Bowling average: 41.40

Keep this up and England will have a second Giles!

Oh come on! haha I've been there, and that isn't true.

On the other point though, you definately deserve your day in the sun, it was obviously a good effort and well done.

No, it's just that I know a lot of English people who do just that. I think you guys are actually a lot more reserved than the likes of Dan (Majin) and my English co-workers, that's for sure. It seems that there is nothing more special to them than getting one up on the sole New Zealander. :( I still hear about the test matches from some of them on a weekly basis, if not more than that... the English are doubly (or more?!) vocal when they live in Scotland, you see.

EDIT: See, I get what Scaly says, only it's more "We ANNIHALATED you in the tests. Did you see how this guy got out? And your bowlers weren't that bad, really, it was just our incredible batting, NZ just couldn't touch us" etc, etc. Of course, the high note of that is that I didn't really need to say anything about the ODI series with England and the Windies, they told me to shut up before I had the chance to even ask if they watched the game!

maybe..if Flintoff was half the batsman he actually is!!!! :D
Now, now, Afridi isn't that bad, he just needs to cool down a bit. Lets not forget, he was one of ones responsible for Pak's win against India.

Bob, have a beer.
As for me, I'm going to celebrate now with a nice, refreshing glass of Laphroaig - and who knows, maybe another - and another.

Some good things do come out of Scotland.

Shahid Afridi has ALWAYS needed to cool down.

He is an out-and-out slogger - a complete no-brainer (but, sometimes, simply breathtaking to watch)

People seem to forget he bowled 2 overs 0-23, he scored 25 off 2 overs (and was out)so there's not a massive net contribution there.

good victory for ENG, congrats. A lot of ppl have said the ponting is a "great" captain, and I understand this is just one loss, but how good was the captaining from ponting while AUS was bowling and on backfoot, anything creative ? any conviction ? Again its only one loss but AUS should not have raised the standards that high and expect me not to complain :)
