anyone watchign live what's the look on ponting's face ?
Deadpan.

The picture I still hold in my mind is the look on Glenn McGrath's face when Trescothick thrashed him out of the attack - sheer, unadulterated disbelief mixed with more than a little horror.

Six for Gillespie, five for McGrath and three for Kaspa + whatever Lehmann and Symonds fills in. I would have thought. McGrath did bowl fairly well until Tresco smacked him about.
Not sure about persisting with Symonds for another over or two, as Ponting has done - I'd probably go for broke with McGrath and Gillespie (and Kaspa if either of them gets smacked). This game is extremely unlikely to see out 45 overs.

Or... There's still the possibility of Clarke - although this option has probably been left too late (then again, maybe not).

I wonder... He's probably thinking about how selfish Martyn's innings was.

The funny thing is, the Aussies likely psyched themselves up about Harmison and Flintoff specifically, who have had next to no impact on the game. Which makes this a very interesting result for the Poms, and they'd have to be really encouraged by it.

Still, it was the kind of kick up the backside the Aussies needed just to keep them on their toes, and let's face it, it's only a mickeymouse knockout tourney.... Oh, who am I kidding, THIS FRIGGING SUCKS

This is unbelievable. Never thought England would stand a chance against the Aussie bowling. And they have been so dominant without anything special from Freddie or Harmison. Incredible!

But I don't see Australia giving up anytime before the last ball is bowled. As they say boys and girls, it ain't over until it's over. If they can get a quick wicket or two, it would make this game a heck of a lot more interesting.

haha, yes, yes it does. Vaughan and his return to form, who the hell does he think he is?

That would be a rather unprofessional - nay, un-Australian thing to do.

One thing - there's still a long, long way to go.

Oh, crap, as if the English ego wasn't big enough, now we'll have them singing about this all the way until the ashes. :( When are the ashes again? I hope they're soon, I don't think I can handle the "ENGLAND IS BETTER THAN NZ COZ WE BEAT AUSSIE AND NZ DIDN'T" for too long, should they win.

I wish I was in NZ so I could be loving watch Aussie go down, though, without having the English bleating. Kudos to the English players for doing so well. :)

EDIT: Vaughan about to get his best ever innings, notably without the English team falling all around him like they have been whenever he performs in ODI's recently. Good stuff.

please don't use un-Australian in a sentence, it's just another ridiculous statement some people use at home because apparently someone has ordained themselves purveyor of all things Oz. It's like un-American, and that annoys me too! haha

Everytime I hear it, it induces a massive cringe - which may in fact have been the purpose of you using it! :-O

What's un-Australian - spitting the dummy? I assure you, that's about as Australian as getting a blowie from a bushpig after a night on the pi$$. I'd forgotten how bad it hurt to lose to the English.

But surely you don't think there's a long, long way to go in this match...

Vaughan out, still lacking an ODI century to his name.

EDIT: Strauss on 36 from 29 and Flintoff due in next. This should be interesting. Quick, pick the last ball to be bowled. I'm guessing it's over in the 46th over, first ball.

Not at all - I know that you're a bunch of good losers.

The un-Australian thing is to underestimate the opposition - something they never would have done under a truly great captain :p

I said there was a long way to go and Vaughan went 5 minutes later. If you ever become as wise as me, you will realise that the only things certain in life are death, taxes and having, on occasion, to take it up the a..... (voice fades into distance)

I don't know that England were underestimated, they played well, and I doubt our bowlers bowled any differently cause they were playing England - just too good today.

Freddie gone - one too many liberties off Brett Lee (who deserves credit for sticking at it)

11 to win off 5 overs, 6 wickets in hand.
