domestic movements!

Gerard Denton is alright but I'd prefer to see Inness play ahead of everyone!

Truly deserved a go in the Shield final.

Steve Magoffin confirms a move to Western Australia from Queensland, while Adam Griffith stays in Tasmania for another 2 seasons.

Not a bad move for Magoffin, he should have more opportunities there.

I believe he is a pace bowler, but is he left or right handed?

Shaun ervine was said to have retired from first class cricket, which means he will end up in west australia which he has been looking at since this whole saga started.
Heath streak has had an offer from tasmania.
Nathan pilon understudy to haddin will move to victoria, mathew innes is undecided about his future but on contract for next season.
Seems like south australia is not in the market for anybody and they are the team that need players the most, they can't hire a zimbo because they already have flower as their overseas player.

I think it'd be awesome if the Zim cricketers came and played for all the Aussie states. All the players from one team against each other - sounds like a metaphor for Pakistani cricket in the 90's.

As for domestic movements (of the cricketing kind), I can confirm that Marky Mark Cosgrove has had offers from just about every FC team in Australia and has shown each of them the door. He's not interested in playing for anyone else but if another state offered him some more money.........

Yeh know the blues were interested in him,he would be better off for his development playing in a stronger team.
Top cat is the redbacks chasing anyone, read 2 months they would be looking at their reserves for places, doubt they have the reserves just throw backs from other states.I wonder if fitzgerald, davo and johnson will get contracts for next season,i know the redbacks are lining up daniel cullen for the spinners job next season.Whatever happened to redback players brian young, ben higgins and mike smith they seemed reasonable players.
Yeh their are 5/6 zimbos who were looking at their options here a month ago, dunno if all of them will be picked up don't see queensland taking on an overseas player.
Positive thing with sean ervine is that in 4 years he can play for australia he is still only 21.

I hadn't heard that but don't rule it out; I'm a bit out of the loop at the minute. I would say that Dave Fitzgerald is safe for now. With Ben Cameron breathing down his neck, that might change very quickly. John Davison is most certainly safe for the one-dayers at least and did hit some valuable runs last year in the 4-day comp. He bowled relatively well too but they'll need more from him this year. And Ben Johnson would be pretty safe I'd say.

As for the others, Youngie has retired, Ben Higgins is still playing for West Torrens but I doubt he'd get another go and Grimey (Smith) is probably getting a bit long in the tooth (though he'll kill me saying for saying so!). He's about 30 now and has almost finished his degree plus he's probably looking at settling down and forgetting about cricket. He's still bowling and batting well at district level so he'll probably get some more games but with the bowling talent in the side at the moment, it would be difficult to break in.

Hate to say it but Sean Ervine probably wouldn't break into the Aussie side. His batting's reasonable but his bowling wouldn't be penetrative enough for the selectors. The only place I could see him challenging would be Brad Hogg's but Hoggie is a far superior fielder. Mind you, there's 10 years between them so it's not out-of-the question and let's face it, Ervine certainly has plenty of room to improve sowho knows; in a year of Pura Cup cricket he could be a demon bowler and a Cairns-like hitter!

Tasmania negotiating with blignaut for next season, seems hopeful but they still need someone to replace watson a batsmen perhaps, hope bevan reaches his senses and knocks them back,he gains nothing going to tasmania.
David boon as selector on tour is negotiating with blignaut :D .

Andre, do you know if NSW has made any offers to any of the Zimbabwean rebels? I know they have signed Matthew Mott from Victoria and will be involved in a coaching role in the NSW 2nd XI, but have they made any other offers or is it too early to tell?

Or they going to go with the youngsters or talented up-and-comers in the Sydney first grade scene from what you know off?

I think that might be a little bit unfair on him. How many 21 year olds in Australia are better than him? I'm not saying there aren't any, but Ervine is up there.

I haven't been doing much sniping on it recently, but Streak may end up in NSW (as we've seen posted a few times now). I don't think they are overly interested in signing up rebels, they are just after Inness and a middle order batsman from what I've gathered.

Sydney Grade talent isn't as strong as in the past but it's still strong, so expect some handy players coming through and regular grade heroes like Grant Lambert and Dominic Thornely should cement places this summer if all goes to plan. Take into account last years 2nd XI coach is now head coach, so youngsters might make the step a little easier with some comfort in the coaching staff.

hmm NSW

Thornley should definatley cement a spot this summer, should do well in the 4d game in particular. Lambert im not quitye so sure about but he should at least get some games so people will get to see him play.

i would love to see Streak playing for NSW though

What is Ed Cowan like? Good enough for a regular spot?

Certainly looks the goods. What's more important though is if he handle's the step from grade of first-class.

I was having a chat with Matthew Mott's sister on Saturday night. While his role is predominantly with the second XI, if he scores well enough he will be recalled into the first XI. He is only 30 and still has some good years ahead of him. You would think with the retirements of both Waughs and the doubts about Slater and Bevan, there are a few open spots in the Blues line up.
