DoG's Top 100 Test Batsmen Countdown Thread

sunilz

International Regular
Could be ranked above dravid. The formula doesn't put a huge weightage on longevity.
Yeah it can happen
Dravid advantages
1. Better overseas average
2. More total runs

Kohli advantage
1. Better strike rate
2. Better average against quality attack.

I rate Sobers > Sachin=Lara > Richards.
Surprised to see many people from WI rate Richards over Sobers.

Sobers overs Sachin as a batsman? Surprising
Not surprising at all. For a good part of Sobers' career he was a 60+ averaging batsman. Only declined to 58 at the end of his career. Many who saw him rate him as the best batsman they have ever seen.

Logan

U19 Captain
Ken Barrington who played in the same time period as Sobers had a better record than him. His only fault was he was very slow.

I would rate Sachin higher than Sobers. Faced better bowlers. Played in a more competitive era. Played under more pressure. Has a more complete record than Sobers who was pathetic in NZ.
