Dhoni vs Akmal

On the same token, you have seen Dhoni dance down the track when his team needed him to be sensible, yet Akmal in the same situation made a century.
I am talking about Akmal as a keeper, not a batsman

Every batsman is "stupid" at some point. Isn't sticking your bat out outside off-stump to drive at a ball without moving your feet (which 75% of international batsmen do today and get out as a result) stupid? Dhoni's problem is that he thinks he's good enough to dominate every opposition in international cricket and that just won't happen because there are good bowlers out there and there are a variety of pitches out there. He definitely is a slow learner in this regard, but stop acting like he's the worst cricketer of all-time. He definitely has a long way to go, but if he actually gets past that one mental flaw the potential is ridiculous. Time will tell how far Dhoni goes.

Its the timing and frequency of stupidity.

Okay, just about two mins ago, Styris is on strike in the NZ v Pak match. Right so styris plays it to point, and gets in a mixup with Fleming. Ball is thrown in from point to the keeper, Styris tries to go back, but is like half way down the pitch when the ball reaches Akmal. Akmal throws the ball at the stumps are as hell, with his gloves on, and completely misses the stumps. Oh yeah by the way, he was like barely 3 feet away from the stumps...seriously. Possibly the easiest wicket anyone could have gotten this tournament, and Akmal misses it by throwing the ball miles away from the stumps when he was 3 feet away.

I take my comment back about Akmal being a better keeper than Dhoni.
That certainly was the worst bit of wicketkeeping I have ever seen. I'm quite confident I would have made that run-out myself.

As a keeper, Akmal has had more highs and more lows than Dhoni, so its really hard judge at the moment. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'll judge Dhoni once I see him keep in England.

Not once but twice, playing the same shot both times...

Let me tell you that whenever Bradman got out ,OFF the &*%$in course he would have played STUPID shots .And almost every ball on which a good or a STUPID batsman gets out is called a STUPID shot. And I was pointing out that the reasons why he plays stupid shots more often is because he is not trained enough for the certain pitches IMHO . We need $%&*in better understanding of the pitches by the sub-continent sloggers . And I also &*#$in' said that time will be the judge and ets see how Dhoni improves himself in the future !!!
JEEEEssus!
1. Be cool.
2. LOL. This is the worst attempt at justification of anything I've ever read.

Until you're in the situation in one of the most important matches for your team in the tournament.

All you're saying is that he hasn't.
Because you can only go on what actually has happened?

I cannot believe that I am actually defending Dhoni. He's not my favorite player.

Yes, and until Dhoni succeeds in the same situation, you can't use it to say that it reflects Akmal as inferior to Dhoni. You can't presume that Dhoni would have hit the stumps.

fair enough, you won't have to wait too long anyway.

May be Dravid means that missing target from three feet is an occasional mistake !

Which makes even less sense...

Shockingly.

Thanks for the explanation though, but I'll wait for Dravid to clarify the actual explanation.

Dhoni has had to hit the stumps from three feet before, and did not miss. I remember a run out specifically in one of the one-dayers.

And I'm sure Akmal has done the same before. The fact is that even the best wicketkeepers make really horrific mistakes of simple chances occasionally. Not saying that Akmal is a top class 'keeper, but one mistake is really no fuel for a debate such as this.
