Is there any point to this rant? You started out by suggesting the new sim should include individual aggression, which the curent one already does, and after that was pointed out you launched into a broad and pointless tirade against the dev league as a whole. If you don't like it, that's fine, and you can not participate. It's perfectly understandable if you think it's pointless, as the only point is that it's meant to be fun, and evidently you don't find it so. So, don't be involved, and those of us who don't think it's pointless and do find it fun will be.

Spit your dummy out. :baby:.

If we made it so each player got to choose their tactics we'd never have a league in the first place because there's only a handful of people who are active enough to post them for every game that's played and some of us don't have the time. That's why I enjoy it because I don't have to do much yet I still get to have a little fun out of it. :)

Give me a B......Give me a L..........Give me an U......Give me an EEEEEEEEEEE........Give me an S. I've been practicing. :p

Could you point out an instance of you eliciting any input from the players ?
I often used to try to input my influence on team selections, mainly on Steds, though I should try Kennett, coz he does a soft spot for me. I succeded through whinging to Steds at the beginning of the season to let me open the batting in FC, which has now succeded and I regularly do, ousting former opener James Stedman to the no.3 spot.

If you just stay involved and make an effort to comunicate with the selection commitee, its quite easy to recieve, er, satisfaction.

Just as further examples, I requested during the off-season that I have a stint opening in club cricket, and had some success there, and have therefore opened in plenty of List-A games this season, as well as the odd FC one.

As Liam mentioned earlier, Demeza has talked himself up as an out-and-out quick, so bowls with full aggression all the time.

Virtually anyone who is active can be involved in these things.

Cloete talks up his bowling. Result? He gets a bowl here and there.

The system works. :)

Another one from my own experience...

When I signed up, I had a scoring rate in the high 40s, but have in both seasons so far scored in the low 30s consistently. I'd say this has something to do with the fact that I've always talked about myself as being a slow scoring batsman who concentrates on defence first, hence I'm usually set defensively when I bat.

I joined this season.

I used to be a *spits* Green.

the whole time you were you whinged and whinged and showed incredibly little team spirit - unlike Lezama who was active even through an extended injury.

you played more FC Innings than i did too through the season....

Grow up Garven, stop whinging.

The Reds leadership group is Marc Robbins (captain - marc71178), Haakon Moerk (vice captain - Samuel_Vimes), Dave Watt (AuST_HiTmAn), Ian Markus (slats4ever) and Sean Bennett (steds).

I'll admit that this season has been a bit 'dead', not very exciting, but look, you'll get that every so often.

I reckon the more you put in, the more you get out of it. I also believe it`s a great place to make good with members of the forum, and to create hideous rivalries with others.

Whinged and whinged?

I may have said stuff like I'm playing crap, which I did for quite a lot of the season, tbh.

And it's not that easy to be excited when the egotistical captain decides that he'll keep in OD, despite not being a keeper, and he'll just keep instead of a keeper.

Moving to Reds was the best thing I ever did.

My role in the team.

I wasn't traded to Reds, I asked to come, with the ambition, which I STATED, that I'd take the gloves in 5D when Hakon was away or injured, and that there would be healthy competition for the OD gloves.

What a cheerleader.

Nope, you've got it wrong. read my posts again. I suggested that individual aggression be left to the discretion of the players, not the captains, as seems to be the case here. And since this threrad was created for the purpose of inviting suggestions, I gave mine, and had to elaborate on it a lot to make matters clear, which you interpret as a rant. And, yes, it is not for me to suggest whether you should enjoy it or not, its entirely your decision. All I did was put forth my impressions.

Do carry on... :insert yawning smiley here:

And its simple. The players interested enough to choose tactics may do so before the game. And for those not interested enough/lacking the time, the captain fills in the information for them (since they already seem to be doing so). Now that is simulation. ;)

A batsman in any game in the world can request from a captain for permission to deal with the game in a manner differing to the captain's tactics, but once you come down to it it's the captain who lays down the law. They, and/or the selectors, say where you bat, how you should bat, when you bowl, where you field, what field you bowl to, etc.

That's what a captain is all about.

Now that is simulation. ;)

Of course, we could always give people the option to go against captain's orders, but that would likely only end up in a scenario where the player doesn't get a game because the captain wants to use his plan - just like what would happen in the real world (any knowledgeable NZer knows that Cairns, Parore and Adams have missed games purely due to attitude differeces).

Re: Jamee999, while I didn't always agree with Age's tactics, I respected them as we won games using them, and eventually won the season.
