Yeah i think that Neil's on the right track, however it may be hard to keep adjusting the players stats based on their participation levels. But i certainly feel bowlers coming in with averages of 20/22 in first class is unfair given that AFAIK no current player has a career first class average that good
The stats are tweaked every season anyway - it would hardly be too much extra effort.

This is probably another one for a round of e-mail wars, but I'm really starting to think that starting averages should not be in the range of really > 40 for batsmen and < 24 for bowlers, with increases and decreases dependent on commitment and forum activity (à la training).
The problem with this may be huge amounts of spam. I'm in a football sim where we've tried to reward activity (as in posting match reports) with good results in the sim, but the problem arises on how to work it out. Do you simply count posts? Do you count length of posts (which may lead to huge amounts of mindless drivel)? Do you try to judge it on quality (which is perceptive)?

The idea is good - the way to work it out is horribly, horribly difficult.

Executive decision from a panel (capt/vcapt) is the only way to do it.
*sees every captain turning in maximum values for his squad in an attempt to strengthen his team*

Think we need a neutral - but where to find that...

Reds team for the final warm-up:

Stedman
Bennett
Maddocks
Whelan
+Mørk (vc)
Dobson
Thirtyone
Wright (c)
Kennett
Pratyush
Law

Bowling order:

Wright, Kennett, Thirtyone, Law, Pratyush, Bennett

I'd like to wish Kyle luck as skipper for the next few games - with tail starting at 5, the bowlers will be crucial!

Team, surely?
Yes, yes... sorry, team. Man, I've been making typos and errors and getting myself confused ever since I left work. Must be Friday Syndrome. Enjoying my lack of need to really think after a long week...

Thanks Marc. It will be a test for us, but one we are well equipped to tackle. As long as everyone trains hard and puts in 100% in the field we are going to be hard to beat.

Good luck to all the Red's internationals, do us proud.

Sadly, no, I'm a mere Daniel. ;) But we have a Rob Malone and a Rob Timewell already, and a couple of years back I had a best friend named Rob. I'd not be surpised if there are more in the CW Dev League, not sure though.
*cough* *cough* Im rob too :D

Well there you go! This league is a Rob-magnet!

EDIT: Come to think of it... I think almost all of the Robs I've known have been Australian...
