Daily Blast Comment: A dramatic victory for the Reds to rebound from their heartbreaking loss to Blue a week ago. All the seamers were superb in the 2nd innings, as they rallied to defend just 218 runs. David Kennett in particular was on song and continued his wonderful season, returning to his best form. Not at all to be forgotten, the target was set up by some determined batting by Vimes, Jagaways and especially Bugssy amidst a clutter of wickets on day four. Very satisfying win for those invested in the Reds, further helping hopes to avoid a last place finish in the Dev League this season.

Standings and Schedule - 5D

I worked out the kinks in the 5D schedule for the remainder of the season.
Amended 5D schedule and 5D Standings attached.

Basically CW Black HAS to win its last 2 games of the season to have a genuine chance at the title given Blues form of late. Those games will come against...

CW Blue at home in Sydney ... and...
CW Green in Cainrs.

So it's up to the CW teams to defy Black's last title charge.

Blue's chances are better but still not easy by any stretch. If Black beats Blue on Thursday and then goes on to beat Green on Saturday, Blue will have to win all 3 of its other games to ensure sole posession of the 5D crown. Those games will come against...

CW Green at home at the PDV Dome, ...
CW Green at home once more ... and...
England A finishing at home.

A crucial homestand at the end of the season will make for some thrilling cricket, providing that the Blacks keep their season alive. England A is still in it though, because if they win the remainder of their games and Blue loses to Black, either the Blues or Blacks will be knocked out of the playoffs with 5 points being the decider.

Great win Reds, good to see us keep our performance up with the Internationals back. Great to see the seemers get wickets.

It would be nice if people could hold catches off my bowling... :p :p

well we will certainly be playing in some huge games for the other teams. lets make sure we make it as hard as we possibly can for them.

In our last game every single batsmen failed except blewy, who batted superbly in both innings. if even a couple of us had given him abit more support we would have been in a position to win that game. ive just said we have some important games coming up, we need to pick ourselves up and fight with the bat.

also well done to Hoy for good bowling performance in teh first innings.

Full amended schedule

Ok, I've had time to look over the remainder of OD and Smash. The schedule is still slightly imbalanced, but all teams now play 20 games of each for the season, whereas the old schedule had a couple of teams playing 22 in OD and only 16 or 17 each in Smash.

Nice batting by me.Getting vice skip for those few matches was a joy but not so much since we lost a few.

For once we induce a collapse, instead of the other way around. That was some excellent stuff after Hussey and Maher had us in a tricky position - particularly the fourth innings bowling was great (*hides after missing one of his two chances*)

Time to join in the chant. GO REDS!!

I think i took my 50th FC wicket for the season in that match

The title will be ours

RE: the new schedule, aren't 'Blacks' supposed to be playing Sri Lanka today - 6th October? we are listed as playing Eng A OD

Our side is completely different at full strength, its amazing. For all of those who didn't make the squad this week, work that bit extra in the nets and with your game in general, because with our First XI being so strong, its going to be hard to get games when the Black CW XI players are playing.

Well done on the win again everyone!

:)
