Young calls time on captaincy
CricketWeb Blue captain and Test match Wicketkeeper Peter Young has resigned from the captaincy of the Blue side due to a change in personal circumstances. Young, who also retired from One Day International cricket following a World Cup campaign where his poor run with the bat marked him for extended ridicule from several press sources, told a news conference at the PDV Dome following his side's defeat to England A that he wanted to spend more time with his newborn triplets, Darron, Sharron and Arron.
Rumours are already circulating over his possible replacement for the Blues' leadership, with vice-captain Liam Camps (aka Mr Mxyzptlk) favourite. However, the impending ODI Chairman's Trophy tournament looks set to deprive the Blues of Camps and Tom Halsey - who is also seen in some quarters as too rash and inexperienced for the job, and as such the veterans Richard Hingston (Langeveldt), Craig Walsh, Adam Collins and Simon Fitzsimmons (Broncoman) are also in the frame for the job.
He's actually moving back to Sheffield University, and his student house there doesn't have the Internet, so he doesn't believe he's active enough to do the captaincy justice, but hey...
