A rather sorry tale there boys. Sure we were understrength, but the performance from well established team members wasn't pleasing at all.

Mr Ponting had an awful game I'm afraid with the ball conceeding his century, Vishnu Reddy bowled really well, but Dark Hunter no doubt stood out from the pack with 20 overs 10 maidens 1/24 which was absolutely outstanding.

On a personal note, not too happy with 2/95 from 35.5 overs, but it was good to get the red hot Jimmy Maher out. Our batting lacked discipline, and even though we were placed in a precarious situation, we needed to show some character and make as many runs as possible in order to avoid the follow on and salvage a draw.

But unfortunately, we capitulated as only David Kearsley, BK Smith and Umpire Money only registered 50's throughout the course of the match. Ferd continues to disappoint unfortunately at the top of the order, but he's a determined individual with a lot of heart and pride, but he'll need to get a few runs before the CW XI players come back again.

All in all, bad loss, and throughout most of the season we were looking red hot favourites to win the 5D championship, sadly we're no longer contenders. But the OD trophy is there for the taking, but we need to play better than this.

Actually im not too unhappy with my bowling. A wicket, 3 dropped catches and although I conceded 112 I did bowl 40 overs...less then 3 an over...

Im sure we'll pick up next game, keep at it boys...:)

For a bowler of your calibre and skill you did deserve those 4 wickets mate. Too bad our fielding was pretty awful too.

Sudeep

International Captain
Disappointing loss.

Not too happy with my individual performance either. Too many errors, which included consecutive no balls, drop catches and missed run outs.

Got off to a start with the bat in both the innings, but couldn't continue on... :(

Tom Halsey

International Coach
Unlucky Blues, I think (although it was a quick count) I had 6 catches dropped off my bowling, our fielding is letting down the bowlers work.

Whilst we were looking for the odds on Australia or New Zealand to win the Tri-Nations, me and my main man Sean Long found a bookies that does dead good odds on Black beating Red in the OD final :) ;)

Daily Blast Comment: A brave effort from a tired team. KennyD entered to add some fresh spirit to the Blues, but the bowlers showed their fatigue early when the Aussie top order belted the ball about. Some wonderful bowling from Nath Patrick at the end of day 1 then got his team back into things, and he finished with a career-best haul when all was said and done. The batsmen then did well enough to put the game into 'draw' territory before another tired bowling effort. All in all the bowlers did well in spurts, but simply could not sustain pressure. However, enough was done for an honourable draw and a decent way to finish the 5D regular season.

Daily Blast Comment: A couple of career-high bowling performances set up this win. David Kennett was all but unplayable in the first innings for an astonishing and superb haul, then Supa Freak had the Englishmen in a spin the second time around. With the bat, Deeps and Zaid Ghansar each played two crucial innings to hold things together. Great win to end the season for Red.

Great stuff there Reds, an amazing victory. Top bowling by DK (but mate, save some wickets for us other bowlers, lol).

Great team effort, and wonderful display. Should we make the OD final, I think that performance will give us a lot of confidence.

Fantastic effort there Reds, great win to end the FC season. Happy that I could bowl so well especially with the call up to vice captain. Ok Reds now let us hope Black beats Australia A and we'll carry this winning form into the OD playoffs!

Hmm, well bowled Nath, shame us other bowlers couldn’t support. I was economical enough, but had a crap SR in that match.
