And look what Hakon didn't :p
*waves goodbye to Test career*

An okay Test, I suppose, we got a draw out of it thanks to the rest of the batting line-up. There's some promising things around.

thats the logial move, but brendon did score a century in the last test at three so you probably couldnt move him

Very disapointed with my individual performance, but with the team holding out for a draw we can take some confidence out of that much. Looking for a lot of improvement for the next test.

Congrats on the solid debut Dave. a very handy 25* down the order and tight (compared to others) figures. Well done, unfortuently the team got batted out of the game, buttheres a few positives to come out of it. After all, a draw is better than a loss.
Thanks i think we can be fairly pleased as a team with the performance after the start to the tour we've had. Got a decent bowl on debut and wasn't as penetrative as i would have liked but to get Dravid and Tendulkar as you're first two test wickets can't be bad.

A bit strange that Pathan did so well against us tho, i would have expected Kumble and Harbhajan to be the greatest threats. Great batting from Cloete, Pete and Brendon

Regarding the opening choice, Haakon was superb opening versus South Africa and Fitzsimmons was somewhat below par. At the moment, Young is one of the few bastmen in good touch, and he's performing beautifully at the top of the order, so he was a sure go for the opening spot. However, Fitzsimmons is too good a player to drop just like that, so he bats in the middle order for at least another Test.

Regarding Goff at 3, the decision was made by the Panel before the South Africa series to let him settle into a position, rather than shuffle him up and down the order constantly, then complain about his poor Test form. The move will likely hold at least until the end of this tour.

The bowlers didn't have much to celebrate about in that game, but that's what Sehwag does to you. Dravid dropped thrice, Tendulkar twice and Sehwag once. Costly misses. Congrats to Dave Richards on a solid debut.

Congratz to Richards on a good debut, but nothing more to celebrate, good ton from Cloete though.
the fielding :O thats like really below par :( we need a good fielder thats sure.
Pitty Moerk Failed again, hope he will regain form in the next tests.

Great batting display from the Webbers.

The bowling lacked penetration but on the dead wickets that was always going to be a problem. I think we can take alot out of that draw.

Well done to PY and Blewy and I'm personally happy wit my effort. The bowling deserves some redit for the way they toiled.

As for the Broncoman issue, he must open. If you can keep blewy at one position I don't see why you can't keep one of the best test batsmen we have in a set position. I think Simon at and the other in form player open (in this case PY) and then Hakon bats lower down. I guess it depends on blewy, but I'd much rather see all 3 of those in the top 3 places! That would really solve alot of problems!

The fact that the second days play was moved to the airport didn't help our bowlers a bit...

You do realize that you're making an argument for keeping a batsman in a set position and simultaneously suggesting that a batsman who has had all his success in a position be moved entirely out of position? Neither Haakon nor Simon are in form.

haha yeah I know.

Hakon and Simon's test and FC records speak for themselves. Form is temportary class is permanent. I tihnk they should all be top 3 then blewy and myself 4 or 5.

It's not going to happen though, but I'm not sure how you can keep guys like Simon and Hakon down the order when they're quality opening batsmen.

Pete is a quality opening batsman too though. His record reflects it too.
Exactly, that's why you have those 3 all inside the top 3. With the two in the best form being the openers.

Having three quality openers is always a headache, but personally I'm glad we're having a positive headache for a change!

I think PY is doing too well to put lower down the order. Hakon has only had one bad test so far, right? The warmup matches may have also been a bit out of sorts but when you look at international players, you tend to concentrate on tests, and Hakon's recent test form is superior. Fitz has to go somewhere, though, and it is a shame that we can't have a triangular wicket. :p I'd personally have the newer of the two players who are slightly out of form in the #3 position, and as far as I know that goes to Hakon. Would you drop your long term international opener to #3 if he hadn't performed for one series? Tresco? Hayden? It's always tough.

In the end I'd personally like to see Fitz and PY opening, at least for a test or two, and move Hakon down the order (possibly bump him up to #3 should we lose an early wicket, if that's even possible ni the sim).

Bad Lucky guys. Very well done to get a draw over in India. With two tests to go hopfully we can win them both and keep India winless for the series.
