Personally I couldn't disagree more.

If I get a pair and the team win, that is far more important than smashing 150 but us losing.
I think he was referring to warmup matches, not matches in general.

Personally I'd still rather see the team winning as a unit then as well.

Look at the current Aussies - a few of their players have performed each game in the warm-ups, but they've lost both full internationals so far, is it something to do with being out of the winning habit?

No, just a freak and being Pietersened.
Time at the crease and overs under the belt are what matter in tour-games, not winning, though not losing is important.

I prefer 23 off 126 balls to 2 off 2 balls. :p
Precisely, and don't you (or anyone else) forget that.
Slow runs are better than no runs virtually without fail.

Must say this is one time I actually agree with marc, although having said that I do think that in warmup games you can concentrate on experimentation more - if you lose a warmup game while experimenting with something, at least you've learned something valuable. However I don't think personal milestones are more important than winning if a game can be won.

But the big thing we're missing here is that personal milestones and winning are not intertwined, and the fact that Bhatia did well should not be dismissed just because we didn't win, as it's clearly not his fault at all. Rather we should look at the two things seperately, congratulating Bhatia and then working on what went wrong.

Not if you need to win a match ;)
But "no runs" won't give you any chance of winning a match. "Slow runs" at least puts something on the board in the chase.

Interesting to see almost the entire bowling attack replaced but only 2 changes to the batting.

To the casual observer it looks like it's a case of playing all squad members at least once in the warm-ups?

Well there are only two warmups and the selectors might be unsure of their XI so they're just giving everyone a go to see how they'll do. Would prefer more matches but I guess there's a time constraint.

Good luck guys, hopefully everyone can get some playing time and try and hit their straps a little before the series really begins.

In the words of The Simpsons, 'Up And At Them'.

Disapointed to be left out, as I really would like another crack on the Indian wickets, but best of luck to the guys and the batsman really need to get some confidence out of this game.

First game was fair considering it was the first game of the tour (and alot of them haven't played for a while), but hopefully we will see an improvement in this game before the Tests start.

The thought process is that Kyle is one of two sure picks for the first Test and the real decision is which seamer/s accompany him. Thus, the opportunity is there for the other seamers to step up. This simply shows a great deal of faith in the ability of Kyle Wright.

Dave Richards gets a shot at the spinner's spot, with Tom Halsey still the favourite, for obvious reasons (if we play two spinners).

Regarding the batting, the hope is to get the key batsmen in form and expose the additional batsmen in the squad.
