CW XI in India
1st One Day International

We're here at Ahmedabad for the first One Day International of this highly anticipated 3-match series. Two quality ODI teams, the World Cup runner ups match with the fourth best team in the world, as just a point separates them in the official ICC rankings.

The teams have been named, with Brendon Goff to lead the touring side, desperate to avenge the 2-0 Test defeat.

The Cricket Web XI
I Markus
LA Camps
BJ Goff (C)
CR Butler
MJ Robbins
RJ Malone
AP Chaulk (wk)
NS Hoy
CM Broadbent
KS Wright
NS Pickup

12th Man: XPA Rose

Leading India is Sourav Ganguly and he too boasts a strong-look outfit.

The Indian XI
V Sehwag
SR Tendulkar
MS Dhoni (wk)
SC Ganguly
R Dravid
M Kaif
Yuvraj Singh
AB Agarkar
IK Pathan
Harbhajan Singh
Z Khan

12th Man: A Nehra

The pitch conditions today are what you'd expect of the subcontinent. The bounce is true and there's no real pace in the surface, as the slower bowlers will likely have the most outstanding impact on what should shape up to be a batting paradise.

Brendon Goff calls HEADS and it's turned up TAILS. Sourav Ganguly has perhaps surprisingly elected to bowl first and instead bat under lights.

Camps and Markus stroll to the middle, where Markus will take first strike against Irfan Pathan...

Great to get back into the winning groove - bit of a tough welcome to International cricket for Nath, but the experience of myself and Liam saw us through in the middle of the Indian innings. An excellent batting effort all round - with the possible exception of Malone, who coduln't seem to get it off the square...

Broadbent batting at nine?!! The man averages 2 or something, doesn't he?

Oh well, he can slog. Very good effort from Liam and Neil in the middle-overs, rescued us from a potentially tricky position. Looks like the only thing the side needs are reliable opening bowlers...a bit like England :)

Great win guys, I'm certain we can win this one day series, and win it quite well. Very happy with my return to ODI cricket. A little expensive, but took some wickets. A great team effort, consistent showing from everyone with the bat and Goff used the bowlers well.

As Nasser Hussain says, "cricket is all about momentum" and we have the momentum at the moment.

1st ODI

I Markus - 8/10
Brilliant knock to open the innings. Beautifully paced and well-compiled. Disappointing to have missed out on a hundred though.

LA Camps - 7/10
Useful innings to see off the new ball and partner Markus. Decent bowling in the middle overs with the crucial wicket of Tendulkar.

BJ Goff - 7/10
Not too many in the runs department, but top-notch captaincy and man management throughout.

CR Butler - 9/10
Carrying on from his Test hundred, Butler played beautifully to push the team on to a highly competitive total.

MJ Robbins - 5/10
A start, but no big runs. Solid in the field and a couple of useful overs at a key stage in the chase... albeit surrendering a six and a four to AA. :p

RJ Malone - 3/10
Lacked the required show of urgency with the bat and never looked to be on song with the ball, but did take a good catch and showed up for the game.

AP Chaulk - 7/10
Injected some urgency at the end of the innings with a very brief cameo and kept wicket solidly throughout. A brilliant stumping to remove Yuvraj Singh.

NS Hoy - 6/10
Decent innings down the order to push toward the ultimate total. A disappointing bowling start, but the essential wicket of Dhoni on his return redeemed the showing somewhat.

CM Broadbent - 7.5/10
A shockingly useful innings and some good steady and tight bowling, though never looking penetrative.

KS Wright - 7/10
A solid return to the limited overs game with two big wickets at a big stage of the match. Dropped a catch, but AA was dismissed by the very next delivery.

NS Pickup - 8/10
Dropped Sehwag on 18, but the miss wasn't too costly. Bowled tidily and took 3 big wickets.

International Captain
Good stuff, guys, particularly Butler for his strong knock. Mixed results in the bowling but the captain saw it and used the better lot to good effect. Let's keep going strong, lads.

International Debutant
A good way to start the ODI series, Butler and Markus were very solid with the bat and most () of the bowlers bowled well. While it wasn't the debut i had hoped for, hopefully i'll get another chance soon .

cbuts

International Debutant
it all started with a strong opening partnership, markus and camps, got us off to a great start. lets take the seires now!

Feels great to be back out in the grey uniform. To beat these guys at home's tough as well so a fantastic showing.

There was a certain N Nichani sitting on the sideline draped in an Indian flag and the best part came when i got to raise my bat to the crowd for 50 and stick my finger up at him.
