You've not been sacked, just rested. When I say rested, I mean to say that we don't think you're fit to cope with this particular match, but you're certainly still a front runner in the picture.

I really feel poorly for David Kennett especially, considering that he isn't in the ODI squad, but still, that's cricket... unfortunately.

LOL, i dunno what to say, if this test ment something as far as a series win or something goes i could understand, but if im a front runner to be in the 11 in usual cases id have thought in most instances id have been given a chance to find form...
ill get over it though... good luck to the guys picked...

Bit strange. I just find it pathetic that the selectors can drop a player who's been one of the best test batsmen got a long time who's out of from. Yet they find it perfectly acceptable to keep another player who is also out of form and has been involved in test for a much shorter period of time.

Oh well... We need to perform here boys. A 2-1 series loss would be great!

Well one of them has had his career average fall below 30 and has not passed 10 all series long. The other one, who I assume is Haakon, scored a half-century in the last Test. If you mean Butler, he's crossed 10 several times this series. If you mean Goff, he's the captain!

If you're assuming it's a batsman

Butler crosses 10 several times. So you drop Simon who's been one of CWXI's best batsmen because he averages below 30? Yet the captain himself averages below that mark...

reason enough to keep Brendon just because hes the captain...
and 4 of those 6 scores i was batting out of position, imo ive been used as the scapegoat for our per performances...

The captain is not going to be dropped in the middle of a series. If you're talking about ridiculous of unsettling tactics, surely they don't get much more so than that!

Besides, SG Fitzsimmons last 8 Tests:

256 runs @ 16
1x50
HS: 56

BJ Goff

459 runs @ 28.69
3x50
1x100

I'm not about to justify the selection of each player who has been retained, but I think you can look at the results and do that on your own. It's blatantly obvious.

Do you expect us to see poor performances with a team and yet make no changes but just sit back and wait for a reversal? This is cricket, not magic. Proactivity must be there until we can reverse a record of 6 wins and 21 losses in 46 Test matches. 6 wins and 26 losses...

How about his last 20 FC games? 8-)

Of course I'm not talking about dropping Brendon. But I am saying Simon should never have been dropped! Why would you drop Simon, when Kyle, Buts, Hakon etc. could all also be dropped?

Maybe it'd be a good idea if we actually didn't drop anyone for a change? Or, if you're going to, drop someone new to test cricket who isn't performing. Not someone who's been doing it since day one!

this is the 3rd, mybe 4th time ive been dropped from the test team, whats going to change this time? Marc has a much worse record than me with the bat and Kears hasnt set the world on fire lately, we've basically just dropped 1 under performing batsman for a dud...

You've played in 43 of the 46 CW XI Tests.

Robbins averages 27.50 with the bat in Tests.
Fitzsimmons is now at 29.80.
Kearsley averages 30.67 in 2 Tests.

Besides, Robbins was brought in to compensate for Bhatia. Kearsley was brought in for Fitzsimmons.
Regarding the form of Kearsley...
In his 7 FC innings in India for the 'A' team, Kearsley average 46.67 with 2 hundreds. Overall on the 'A' tour, he averaged 42.20 with 3 hundreds.

Thoughts?

my thoughts are that it was a stupid decision.

Drop someone who isn't proven instead of dropping a proven player.

Why kick up such a big fuss? Whatever happened to humility and modesty? You were dropped because there's a player better than you... accept it... move on...

my thoughts are you've set the standard now, Dave should be given a reasonable shot at cementing his spot in the middle order and if any of our long term players dont lift their game they HAVE to be out the door. Now that ive been dropped i expect some improvements in the side, im hoping for it but not really expecting it...
Theres just far too many weak links in the team, i want the team to succed with or without me i just hope the loyalties the selectors obvious feel towards some players dont continue to hold us back...

What relevance are FC games when there's no performance in Tests?

The man scored 23 runs in 6 innings in the series!! Look at the scorecards and I'm sure you can figure out why the above listed have not been dropped. I'll help you out though...

Butler has scored more runs than Simon's series tally in 3 individual innings of his 6 .
Wright is not a batsman and therefore cannot be justified against Fitzsimmons. Besides, he's taken 7 wickets @ 46.14 in a series where the Indian batsmen have put up an average of 40.16 per wicket.
Moerk is not only the wicketkeeper, but he's actually scored runs in the last match. 8-)

Do you follow CW cricket at all? Fitzsimmons, Goff, Cloete have been picked fairly Test in Test out for some time now! Surely you can't be complaining about the core of the team, seeing as 8 players in CW history have played more than half the total CW Tests. Which player new to Test cricket isn't performing? Should Dave Richards be dropped, seeing as he averages 42.25? Moerk, who's averaging a couple runs less than Fitzsimmons' series aggregate? Butler, who actually averages more than his series aggregate?
