CW's Ranking of Batsmen (Tests)

Nikhil99.99

U19 Cricketer
Really happy that my favorite cricketer ever among those I didn’t see finished at no.2.Well deserved for ‘the master’.Sir jack hobbs.
Want to write on the greatness of Sir jack hobbs.
From 1910-1928,Hobbs scored 4100 runs at a average of 66,averaging 64 in aus,68 in eng and 65 in aus. When the 1st world war stopped cricket hobbs was 32 years old and at his peak. The master averaged 65 in 1910s at his peak in an decade where run scoring was the toughest among all decade from 1910s to till now.
The most notable thing is hobbs scored just 387 runs at home at 48 and 1644 runs away at 71.47.In his first series in sa in matting wickets hobbs averaged 67.After the master returned to international cricket after war ,it was said that there had been just one batsman better than post-war hobbs and it was hobbs pre-war.
Sutcliffe to Plum following his legendary effort with Hobbs in the 1926 Oval Test, eh? Here's Sutcliffe to yours truly before his legendary effort with Hobbs in the 1926 Oval Test...

Cardus: "This looks pretty bad, Herbert."

Sutcliffe: "Why? What's the matter?"

Cardus: "The wicket. After the thunderstorm."

Sutcliffe: "Oh, has there been one? I didn't hear it. But don't worry; it'll be alright -- so long as Jack doesn't get out."
Hobbs has everything that a no.2 greatest has to have.Great peak,longevity,series domination,consistency.
There was no batsman who was in Hobbs level in sticky wickets.Even greats like Hammond,Headley and others were considered a level below hobbs in sticky wickets.
