Day 4 Lunch: Australia 0/36
What a game of cricket we've had! The Cricket Web XI have arrived in Australia with a point to prove, and thus far, they've done it exceptionally. Now it's time for the final lap of what has been an exhausting and enthralling marathon.

Do the Webheads have enough left in the tank to finish the job?

1.2 Kennett to Langer: a bit of width and an open face - the ball races away for FOUR.

Thomas replaces Kennett in the attack. The veteral seamer hasn't looked himself in this game, so Goff hands the ball to the debutant.

9.1 Thomas to Langer: driven to cover - no run.

10.3 Hoy to Langer: cut shot - FOUR! The first time Hoy has really given width, and Langer capitalized.

11.1 Thomas to Hayden: OOOOh, HOW IZ THAT?! That looked very very close. Thomas got that one to swing back into Hayden and he was struck very close... not out was the call though.

11.6 Thomas to Langer: pushed to point and they take a quick single...Mamesh has a go at the stumps... MISSED! That would have been really close. They get two overthrows. Replays suggest Hayden would have been a couple inches short of his ground...

13.6 Thomas to Hayden: punched off the back foot - FOUR runs.

17.5 Thomas to Langer: square cut - that's FOUR more...
17.6 Thomas to Langer: banged in and easily pulled away for FOUR. Thomas losing the plot here... a bit of frustration.

Just 200 runs needed now, so Goff turns to Pickup. A lot of responsibility on the shoulders of his deputy...

19.6 Pickup to Langer: LOOSE SHOT... DROPPED! That seemed to hang in the air, but dipped right in front of Cloete at extra cover and he's put it down.

20.5 Kennett to Hayden: great shot through the covers for FOUR! Over-pitched and dealt with.

21.5 Pickup to Hayden: Oh Hayden starting to find his form. That was a very well-placed sweep shot off Pickup and he collects another boundary.

22.6 Kennett to Langer: he asks for it.. but it's not out. That was hopeful.

23.3 Pickup to Hayden: flicked to the legside and a quick single... ooooh... Mamesh missed the target again... would have been very close to getting Langer there.

26.4 Camps to Langer: lofted over the cover fielder - FOUR!
26.5 Camps to Langer: same ball, same shot, same result! Fifty for Langer. Very well-played.

27.2 Pickup to Langer: a close shout, this! Turned down again. Nothing going for the tourists right now.

33.1 Pickup to Hayden: swept fine and that will beat Thomas to the boundary... 49...

Hoy back into the attack with his team desperate for a wicket.
34.4 Hoy to Langer: ANOTHER ONE DOWN! This must be getting very frustrating for all involved, because Butler is the man who can't hang on to this one at second slip.

Will Pickup be the man? I have a strong inclination towards it. Let's see what happens.

(this is not to suggest that Pickup is not a man)

One last rally now - we'll do it once the first wicket comes, Greg has the wood on Ponting and surely the law of averages will hit Hussey soon.

Yes. It has been pathetic really.

Regardless of what comes out of this match, catching is an area we have been very poor at. It cannot carry on like this.

35.1 Pickup to Hayden: turned around the corner and he jogs a single. That's a very good fighting half-century. He really had to work today, Hayden.

35.5 Pickup to Langer: that's a peach of a shot. Tossed up and driven superbly square of the wicket - FOUR.

64.5 Pickup to Langer: swept around the corner and they get two. A hundred for Langer.

68.4 Pickup to Langer: TAKEN! Finally a wicket and Pickup points Langer back to the dressing room. Not much celebration about, but a wicket is finally down.

Code:
JL Langer c Cloete b Pickup	[B]102 (227)[/B]
68.6 Pickup to Ponting: sweep shot - top edge - TAKEN! Hmmm... do we have something in this yet? Ponting fails again!

Code:
RT Ponting c Thomas b Pickup	[B]0 (2)[/B]
A big round of applause for Pickup as he walks back to his position at third man.

Kennett back...
69.3 Kennett to Hayden: "ARGH!" is the cry from Goff at first slip as he sees Cloete drop another catch next to him. Unbelievable really, and Hayden can't believe his luck.

72.1 Pickup to Hayden: SUPER CATCH! Hayden went for the sweep there and ended it up top-edging it to the offside. Mørk dove full-stretch to take a blinder. That was quick!

Code:
ML Hayden c Mørk b Pickup [B]93 (205)[/B]
