Not much in the way of changes overall here, the Sri Lankan home win over the South Africans and their achievement in avoiding the whitewash in Australia combine to lift them back towards the main bunch of teams, and bring the leaders slightly back towards the peloton.

South Africa slip back a couple of places in the away rankings, but their home form keeps them in second place. The England-WI series won't affect much if it continues on its previous course, because the West Indians are such poor tourists.

Here we see the advantage of the build of my rankings over the Kendix/ICC system, as it requires much more consistent performance in order to achieve gains and losses, rather than the Kendix/ICC system which has seen South Africa inexplicably go from 2nd to 6th after losing one Test.

Sorry - had to move this to the top of the stickies.
Good system, BTW, from what I can see, Neil.

i would expect bangladesh to come first with there stunning victory against pakistan remember?
No, I don't remember that ever happening. Bangladesh have never beaten Pakistan in Test cricket.

yes they did. It was there first test victory ever
erm..i dont think they won..I seem to remember Pakistan sneaking through by a wicket.

Are you sure you arent talking about the ODI game in the World Cup vs pakistan (which to be honest I think there was something very dodgy go on with that game)

Not much going on, as you'd expect after just one Test series, but England close the gap on South Africa in second place to 43 points from 57, and the West Indies slip further back from the rest of the main pack.

England need to win the series in South Africa in order to take second place from the Proteas, whilst even an Indian whitewash of the Australians won't be enough to bridge the gap to the top three. Should the Australians win the series, however, India could lose ground heavily - but even a whitewash wouldn't be enough for them to slip below Pakistan (though there is the small matter of Pakistan v Sri Lanka, which could have a large say in the matter).

Comment
It's been all about India and Australia this month, and Harbhajan and Kartik's efforts in the Mumbai twilight combine to preserve India's fourth position ahead of New Zealand, who were hit by the Bangladesh Bump (Australia lost 116 last July, so don't complain too hard!). Second to sixth on the away table are now hardly separable, but with four of the top five sides overall in action in the coming weeks, South Africa's permanent stay at number one is now in grave danger.

The Proteas need a series win on the subcontinet to prevent England taking over second position, whilst a whitewash for India could bring them within a hair's breadth of the English. New Zealand, meanwhile, travel to Australia with much to gain and plenty to lose, as a series win could keep them in the thick of the battle for second, whilst defeat would see Pakistani eyes glinting at the prospect of a return to the top half for the first time in 22 months.

looks very good as usual Neil..........

the graph seems to indicate that ENG is the only team currently sitting above where they were at Release 1 & would indicate genuine progress as opposed to the others around them just dropping off.

That graph right there exemplifies just how far away Australia are from the "pack". Very good visual.

Neil that's a brilliant graph !! :notworthy :thumbup1:

To me there is a slight pattern there(at least over the last 2-3 releases any way), with South Africa and England graphs following each other closely , while India and NZ are close to and following one another and Pakistan and SL doing the same !!

The rest seem to be far below each on their own , and Australia way ahead at the top !!

Perhaps the pattern may change after the India v South africa series, and Eng v SA series !

I fear the South Africans are going to face the backlash of the Aussie series from the Indian batting line up !! And then they are going home to face an England Team with its tail up and in a very buoyant mood !!

I am seriously concerned that SA is in for a slight freefall here !!
