Well, they have fallen from 1483 (3 Jan 2004) to 1199 (4 November 2004) without relinquishing a home rubber.
A few situations - the "Bangladesh Bump" causing a fairly major fall-off (see earlier posts for explaination, failing to win the series against India, drawing a Test against Sri Lanka, who don't travel too well, letting the final Test slip against England.

The Overall Rankings are far more important in measuring up the general value of the side in honesty - with Australia being ranked so highly as a side, any slip ups at home to anyone hurt them, but this is more than cancelled out by their exceptional away record.

» Pakistan 27 2825 105

» India 33 3452 105

That's the ICC Test rankings, with both teams tied at a rating of 105, though Pakistan having played six less Tests, but also 627 points short.

While I believe CW rakings are much more accurate, the ICC rankings too show that it's a close race between the two countries, and neither team above the other. :p

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC JOB.
Congratulations. :thumbs_up :notworthy   :thumbup1: :clapping:
PS : Just one suggestion. Just try putting the months and year on the axis instead of the numbers.

Someone should take the trouble of going back and doing this excecise for the entire history of test cricket. It would be fascinating.

looks very good as usual Neil..........

the graph seems to indicate that ENG is the only team currently sitting above where they were at Release 1 & would indicate genuine progress as opposed to the others around them just dropping off.

:)

Oi !! :@ See light Blue line

Good Job Neil!!

The only surprising thing is how SA continue to maintain a second place despite not being great shakes .

And it seems real close between India , England and NZ .

Most of their poor results of late have been ODIs rather than Tests, however the gap is gradually closing between themselves and the chasing pack - should they fail to win in India this month, they're gone.

Only one person would be sad enough to do it.

I expect to see it next week then Neil.
If someone can find a list of all the Test series ever and their results, it's possible!

Personally, I think this website is easily the best rankings system out there that takes every series ever played into account.

http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Stands/8832/

I have it bookmarked and view it after every series, and for what it's worth the current state of things is quite similar to the rankings here.

According to their ranking system, the best team ever is the Australian side the swept Zimbabwe last year before the injuries to bowlers prior to the Indian series. At least, compared the opposition available. :P

And yes, as someone else mentioned, Howstat.com is the best page for finding scorecards and series results back to 1877.
