Spinners XI vs Seamers XI
at the PDV Dome
Good bounce and pace, good for batting.
The Spinners XI thrashed their seam-bowling counterparts by 9 wickets, as Sean Bennett and Dan Rai scored half-centuries to follow up a 5-wicket haul by Tom Halsey. Electing to bowl first, Pickup's decision was vindicated by a brilliant early spell from Man of the Match Sean Bennett, as he applied immense pressure to the top order of the Seamers XI.
Halsey then cashed in on the work of Bennett, snaring 3 wickets in his first 2 overs, and destroying the top and middle order. Nick Borcich and Andy Cameron did their best to inspire a revival, but the eventual total of 141 all out never looked enough.
Watt accounted for Loganathan with a beauty early in the chase, but Bennett and Rai never truly looked troubled, and cruised home.
Seamers XI 141 (44 overs)
Spinners XI 142/1 (32 overs)
Spinners XI won by 9 wickets
Keepers XI vs Batters XI
at the CW Oval
A bit of seam movement, but good for batting overall.
The bowling of the Wicketkeepers failed monumentally once more, and the Batters cashed in comfortably to register a winning total of 320/2. Against ridiculously substandard bowler (but much improved appealing - only 7 shouts for LBW), the Batters improved from a slow start to register the huge total, as Chris Butler and David Kearsley shared in an unbeaten stand of 206.
The former scored a fine hundred, and Jamee Gray was the lone wicket-taker, though Dubb-Lynch and Chaulk were relatively tidy.
As per the norm in the series, the Keepers' batting then showed no cohesion, and despite a good half-century from Kenny Dobson, defeat came by 45 runs soon enough. Once again, Cribb was the spearhead, as Butler and Fitzsimmons took 2 wickets each.
Batters XI 320/2 (50 overs)
Keepers XI 275 (46.4 overs)
Batters XI won by 45 runs
