CW Charity Series (End of Season 9)

I`d play Cribb, but I`m biased I guess. He`s been in good form, especially with the ball.

Fair Call mate. Sorry about the confusion. I was more refeering to it as the best batting XI, as i went by this seasons batting stats for this game.

Do you think i should pout u in for the inactive Jones? or does anyone else have any thoughts on this?
If someone is inactive, they shouldnt be playing fullstop - especially charity matches. But is Jones really inactive though? He would have had to sign up for the charity matches, so he obviously reads this section of CW, even if he doesnt post a great deal. I think his inactivity has been exaggerated a bit...

As I said before, I have no problem being 12th man, as long as its not referred to as the "best XI", as I feel that my bowling form deserves more than to be dropped, especially in a team full of batsmen where Dinu opens the bowling and broncoman bowls first or second change.

If you drop me on account of giving everyone a go in the spirit of charity matches, I dont have a problem with it at all.

who's jones anyway? i dont think i've seen him post in this thread. i'd take Cribb over Jones. His bowling is more than handy.

and Cribb I think I opened the bowling in the last match because i didn't get much of a knock with the bat.

Haha I think Cribb's taking his bowling a bit seriously, but I also think he should be rewarded for being active!

Anyway, doesn't matter where he bats, because Towns and whoever else will be in for the whoolle game

Looking forward to taking on the keepers. :D

I still can't get over Neil hitting a century. I'm still trying not to laugh! I mean, if anyone had placed a bet on that happening, they'd be mighty rich by now. Incredible. Never thought it would happen, despite being a huge fan of Neil's batting.

That's just a disgrace really. We all might as well just give up, what point is there in playing on if Neil can get a century?!

Oh well, his brilliant technique and cool temperament helped..

I've just been down the nets in Exeter and got one of my housemates to video my batting. Give me a few hours and you'll be able to see it as well as read about it!

Spinners XI to take on the all-rounders:

*Neil Pickup (9-25)
Matt Currie (4-86)
+Tharmi Loganathan (88-49)
David Comley (15-33)
Tarick Weber (23-35)
Tom Halsey (27-24)
Dave Richards (29-122)
Sean Bennett (33-42)
Daniel Rai (49-36)
Gareth Gooljar (29-93)
Chris Kalmar (40-86)

Gooljar/Richards/Kalmar//Rai/Bennett main bowlers, Halsey, Weber and me (only if I don't get runs) as backup.

I can't bring myself to breeak up the opening partnership after the last game - form of our lives, and all. Pretty much unchanged - Kalmar replaces McNamara, and we'll switch everything round again for the last match.

Hold on skip, How can Kalmar replace McNamara and yet sit out at the same time? :o He's lost his bowling brain with this century.

Good bounce, good pace for batting.

Neil Pickup threatened again amidst an opening stand of 51, but could not quite make the contact he did against the immensely hittable Wicketkeepers. Instead it was his partner Currie who scored big at the top of the order, yet the Allrounders collapsed the middle order of the Spinners to ultimately hang on to a tight victory.

The margin was just 6 runs, and Tarick Weber's unbeaten half-century almost did the trick for the spinners. He added 53 off 42 balls with Dan Rai at the very end, but the two could not quite muster the 15 needed off the final over, bowled by Callum Thompson.

For the Allrounders, a drastic recovery effort was also required. After Kalmar, Richards and Gooljar dismantled the top and middle order to 67/6, Nick Hancock and Gaurav Nayak set about calmly rebuilding. Robbins then played a blistering cameo at the end, and the score was pushed to 233/8.

The Spinners showed spirit, but could not overcome the setback of the 4 wickets shared by Cunningham and Camps.

Allrounders XI 233/8 (50 overs)
Spinners XI 227/7 (50 overs)

Allrounders XI won by 6 runs

Wicketkeepers XI vs Seamers XI
at the CWBCC Stadium
Flat batting surface, but some turn for the spinners.

Adam Collins' unbeaten hundred was paramount, and though the Wicketkeepers managed to take a couple of wickets, the Seamers still cruised to victory by 36 runs. Sent in to bat, the Seamers reached 81/0 then a double strike by Jasotharan sent Watt and Wilson back to the pavilion.

Collins and Thomas came together, and added 184 runs off 183 balls, whilst denying the 'Keepers another breakthrough. Each batsman hit three sixes, and the Seamers reached 274/2, with 46 runs off the last 5 overs. Collins hit Blue team-mate, Young, for a four and a six off successive balls in the final over of the innings, bringing up his milestone.

Nath Patrick and Kyle Wright found a beautiful line and length immediately for the Seamers, and each claimed 2 wickets, as the Wicketkeepers stumbled to 28/4. Wilson then broke through with 2 more wickets, and it was then an embarrassing 65/6.

Desperate to regain footing, Burke and Crampton rebuilt solidly. The former ultimately played on to Rose, but Crampton batted for a fine half-century. Anthony Lezama, Haakon Moerk and Andrew Garven played entertaining cameos at the end of the innings, but the task was too difficult.

Seamers XI 274/2 (50 overs)
Wicketkeepers XI 238 (48.1 overs)

Seamers XI won by 36 runs
