- Tokyo will be treated to a repeat of the CW Open classic in the final of the Japan Open with CWLanders Sven Oxenstierna and Jefferson Drake set for a finals showdown. Whilst the epic in Nixonstown lasted four hours and seventeen minutes, Tokyo will have to make do with a best-of-three set affair between the bitter rivals. In the day's first semifinal, second seed Drake was forced to come from a set down to advance to his fifth ATP final after a three-set win over in-form Canadian Davis Kennedy. Much like his quarterfinal match, Drake started slowly, and this time he could not come back from a double break down as the classy Canadian looked to have the CWLander's measure in just over half an hour. But after dropping the first set, Drake regained his focus and shot out to a 4-1 lead of his own in the second set. Despite a break back from Kennedy, he was unable to claw his way back into the set as the world No. 12 looked to continue his push back inside the top ten by levelling the match at a set each. It was a decidedly tighter deciding set as both men struggled to hold service, but Drake managed to pull clear at the best possible time to win through 2-6, 6-4, 7-5. Regardless of the result of Sunday's final, Drake will move inside the top ten and, results permitting, could jump as high as world No. 9.
- It was a much more dominant affair in the second semifinal as Sven Oxenstierna had no trouble in dispatching a tired world No. 50 Atthaphol Sae-ul in straight sets. After nearly three hours on court yesterday, the Thai No. 1 looked lethargic and sore as he was roundly thumped by the impressive Oxenstierna. After losing his first set of the week, The Ox has becoming increasingly more confident, and Sae-ul never threatened him here as he succumbed to a 0-6, 3-6 defeat.
- Seeded players out:
- There was no double delight for Drake as he and partner Martti Korpinen were easily beaten by CW Open champs Heath Davis & Jojo Mustard. The second seeds prepared for a tough affair, but looked the better duo in a crushing victory that took just fifty-five minutes. The third seeds played solid tennis, but were unable to produce the winners their opponents were as Davis and Mustard produced their most convincing performance of the week to pull off a 6-2, 6-3 win.
- They will face top seeds Ross & Hayden Onwye in tomorrow's final after the Morrocans escaped with victory in a thoroughly entertaining showdown with Lee Inmin & Qingdong Tsai 7-6(1), 4-6, 13-11.

- Fourth seed Zhijun Sun has made his first ATP final since Marseilles after a tight win over top seed József Boros in front of a home crowd at the China Open. The former world No. 5 has only managed a record of 9-9 since his injury in Barcelona back in May, and finally showed why he is one of the most talented teenagers in the world with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win over the Hungarian No. 1.
- In the second semifinal, Ukraine's Illya Altman could move back to the world No. 9 position after he took a tight win over Latvia's Ivars Emsis. Altman knew that he needed to return well to defeat the Latvian giant who had fired down 47 aces this week, and he did just enough to snare two breaks of serve to move on 7-5, 6-4.
- Seeded players out:
- There was more Chinese success in the doubles draw as Gai Kai & Lu Xun smashed Aleksander Alitspritsin & Ivars Emsis in straight sets to book a place in a second final in as many weeks. In the best possible preparation for next week's Shangai Masters, Gai and Lu face makeshift pairing Antonio Bachunelli & Vladimir Gryzlov in the final after they prevailed 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 against Hau Li-an & Zhijun Sun.
- Seeded players out: None.

- Scotland Rivers will look to avenge his loss in the final of the Challenger tournament in Vancouver by lifting the title in Tarragona in tomorrow's final against Jefferson Quezada. Rivers continued his prosperous run of form with a hard-fought 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win over second seed Aksu Emrem. The experienced Turk made it tough for Rivers, but didn't quite have the polish to see off the CWLander who secured his spot inside the world's Top 100. Quezada, meanwhile, had little trouble in his 6-4, 6-4 win over Marco Pellegrini.
- Seeded players out:
- In the doubles final, top seeds Grigory Khugaev & Alexey Korskakov will face off against Israeli-Luxembourg pair Nico Hoffman & Benjamin Rabin. Whilst the Russians struggled for their victory, the third seeds were awesome as they smashed second seeds Ivo Nikolić & Vilmos Petričević 6-2, 6-1. Hoffman and Rabin have a games record of 36-13 this week.
