Warwickshire the next opponents in another CC match, and the pitch looked a belter. Unfortunately they won the toss and had no hesistation in batting first. The bowlers struggled to make an impact but Nath managed to sneak on through Powell's defences at the end of his opening spell. Warks were 99-1 with 20 minutes until lunch when Halsey produced a brilliant spell of spin bowling to remove Knight, Bell and Wagh and leave them struggling 4 down for 118. Unfortunately there would be no wickets in the afternoon session as SA star Herschelle Gibbs and Trevor Penney put on 190 to bring them back into the game. Richards managed to break the partnership removing Penney and Nath returned to get three quick wickets to restrict the Brummies to 374.

Vimes, Weber and Blewy then got out almost immediately to leave the Web 21-3, but they were rescued by Eclipse(95) and Richards who put on 176 in a fine partnership. Richards then went on to make his century as he put on another century partnership with Craze(80) to wrest control back to the Web. Some great tail wagging from Nath(59) then ensured a healthy lead for CW. all out 457

Chapman decided it was his time to get in on the act and proceeded to take 6-45, ably supported by Halsey's 4-57 they destroyed the second Warwickshire innnings, bowling them out for 175 and leaving a modest target.

Three wickets were lost on the way but the target was reached with ease to complete a 3rd successive win in the CC so far.

The third day of the match saw the channel 4 cameras arrive to film their 'Cricket Roadshow' with the likes of Mike Atherton and Mark Nicholas in attendance. Nicholas isn't the most likeable media personality around anyway, but he didn't endear himself to the Web with the comment that it was 'nice to visit some of cricket's less glamorous backwaters.' The smarmy southerner got his commupence later when one of the fine seagull's that frequent the ground decided to offload some waste on his pristine cream suit. The cameras left sharpish after filming the show and didn't stay to see some of the fantastic cricket being played by this young CW side.

The batting's gone off the boil a bit in the last couple of games, but some good bowling form in the last innings. I hope to build on that.

How did I make the England team when I haven't even been played for CW regularly? Not that I'm complaining or anything ;)

First National league game of the season pitted us against Worcestershire at home. We won the toss and batted first with Eclipse hitting his first 3 balls to the fence, but getting out to the 5th. The returning Nichani then put on 76 with Vimes at a terrifying rate. Vimes hit 51 from 33 balls and Nichani 40 off 20. But the end of the partnership signalled a mini collapse, CW sliding to 145-5 before Craze and Gray put on 101 as both hit stylish 50's. Then the tail got in on the act, Halsey finishing with 38 from 34 balls as we posted 330-9, a formidable total.

Hall had early success but then the seamers got some pounding, their 10 overs costing 85. The introduction of the spinners had little effect on the run rate but the wickets began to fall. Richards removed dangerman Solanki and took 3 more wickets but it was Halsey with 4-43 who was the pick and claimed the man of the match award thanks to his all round display. Worcs bowled out for 258 and CW off to a winning start in the NL.

England won the first test against NZ by 72runs. Sean Bennett hit 43* whilst opening as England were bowled out for 145 in the first innings but after some good bowling restricted NZ to a lead of 39, England posted 350 in the second innings with Jellett hitting 64, Bennett 41. NZ were then bowled out for 239.

The QF of the Super Cup provided the next challenge, and with the international players back the pack was shuffled somewhat. We won the toss and chose to bowl under cloudy conditions and though our seamers kept it tight with the recalled Kyle Wright the pick, the spinners got absolutely slaughtered. Cloete went for 78, Halsey 67, and Chapman 60, though he did pick up 3 wickets. Wrights 1-30 was frugal in comparison. Gloucs totalled 286-6, a tough ask

Vimes started the innings looking in superb form, though his partners Bennett and Nichani looked less so. Vimes stroked 60 from 65 ball but at 93-3 in the 22 over the asking rate was climbing. Up stepped Cloete and Jellett however, the international players added 124 together with Cloete hitting 71 from 57 and Jellett 63 from 56. That left Weber and Gray to add an unbroken 45 for the sixth wicket to see the Web home confortably in the end.

My word.

Quite decent knocks from myself too, though I think I'm going slightly too fast.

On the subject of name-changing, may I be Haakon Mork instead of Samuel Vimes?
