Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

I thought being able to run a half marathon at a decent clip would be standard for an international fast bowler
Wouldn't have thought that at all. Especially in the modern era of bowling loads. Yes they're fit, but probably not concerned with half marathon fit.

1hr39 is a pretty amazing half marathon time in the midst of a pandemic, I presume running around the block a fair few times, and given he's not specifically built or designed to be a long-distance runner.

Didn't the great WI quicks of the 70s and 80s go for long runs on beaches as fitness training, to help them develop the stamina and leg strength?

hardly a tip when it's one of the first things you learn in the game

it's a good reminder though, people tend to jump into too many technical things before they even conquer the basics

Pedantry, but wouldn't you expect a tip to give you something more than what is commonly known

Beach running is such a bastard of a thing to do. Gives you calves like old fashioned telephone books, assuming you don't tear both of them trying to do it.

Not bad for a bloke who should have been running around a 6x8 foot cell in Pentonville Road Gaol.

Of course, noted Balmain Peninsula resident Steve Smith ran one on Sunday around the Bay Run. And because he's Steve Smith, he did it in 1.35
Also being Steve Smith he presumably cheated at some point.
