Cricket All-Stars 2015 - Sachin's Blasters vs Warne's Warriors

Yeah this is it. It's about attracting American business interest, not grassroots interest.
And so far looking so good. If tens of thousands of Asians will go to the ground and millions more watch on tv a game between two teams of old farts then American businesses will want to get on board. And they'll be thinking if the old buggers can be banked on then today's stars would be worth investing in. So the chances of a similar series featuring current players increases. And even without that it helps the grass roots attract some business support because they see there is a market.

Makes a lot of sense. Didn't think of it as a ploy to prove cricket's viability to advertisers.

liked that they played a proper game of XI a side. Enjoyed the match apart from being so entertained.

Wasn't the biggest fan of this idea, but Shoaib bouncing out Sangakkara was just juicy.

I'm happy with the game only trying to attract business interest in the US. At least the ICC in supporting this game are showing some intent to expand the game I guess. Think it's better spent on current associates who are ready to go but whatever...

Is there somewhere to stream a replay? The missus wants to see Murali's hair.

Watched about 5 minutes of this and saw nearly 50 year old Carl Hooper rolling down some of the filthiest nude nut offies you'll ever see.

Not interested at all in this rubbish.

Hooper finished his international cricket career before Jayawardene and Vettori started theirs.

Sehwag and Sanga too
Hooper last played for WI in 2003 W-Cup.

Vettori, Viru, Sanga, Mahela were all playing international cricket with decent pedigree already long before that.

It is a bit of a shame that anyone who doesn't remember the utter awesomeness of the man will just see an old trundler. Just seeing him again on a field is a massive thrill for me though because of the memories it invokes.
Anyone who doesn't remember the utter awesomeness of this man should not be talking about cricket to begin with.

That's just PR talk.. a couple of exhibition games isn't gonna change anything in the US. it's just what cricketers say so that it sounds good.
Yeah you aren't going to get any Maricans in to the game through this. Tell them as much as you like about how good these guys are but all they would see is some elderly gentlemen rolling it down at 70 mph.

Don't think they'l get in to it but if you wanna try it i'll recommend a league with AB,Kohli,Smith,Starc etc
Really? I thought the whole deal was to try and bring cricket to America, expand the game etc. Otherwise why not just host it in India?
This.

Yeah this is it. It's about attracting American business interest, not grassroots interest.

Look, we can be cynical about this as much as we want. But this is an important game in order to open up some new revenue streams, preferably from NA. NA today is not just Mericans watching baseball. There is emerging a pretty significant diaspora market of Indians, Paksitanis, Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans and these matches will demonstrate the the market is sizeable and profitable enough to pour in some American money. That's it. Who knows in time we might even host a T20 tournament of current stars in NA.

They should also have ventured into Canada because Toronto has one of the largest South Asian diaspora communities.

Shoaib has been the best part of this match.
Pace is pace

Americans have baseball, basketball, football on top of ice hockey, nascar, tennis and golf to keep themselves occupied. Cricket cannot and will not ever succeed there..
