Brett Lee is Rubish!

Lee should stay in the team... we saw a promising match yesterday... 2/46 is fairly decent... plus he ran out laxman but the umpire made a mistake which didn't really matter... he knew he was out...

Australia has really been batting with 9 wickets not 10 against india... because of damien martyn 3/1 against them this summer...

sure he was a great player... but he's not playing good now and we cant vegetate him through the summer... so... he neeeds to be dropped ... he's not confident and he's getting out...

But chances are u guys will be dancing across the moon when he scores a century against the zimbabweians...

He's due for something more then 10... brett lee hit more runs off 1 ball then he has in 3 games against india... so b4 u go challanging lee take a look at martyn

To be honest, I'm starting to come around to the idea of trying something different with Marto. I'm a fan of his, but it's time he was sent back to domestic cricket for a while to get the confidence back. It happens with the bowlers and it should happen with the batsmen. Marto is a fighter and if he's good enough he'll make it back. He's done it once before so there's no doubt he's got it in him.

What he's doing now is simply not good enough. I like him and I want to see him back but there's no room for token places and Australia has the depth to cover for him.

I'll be dancing across the moon if he scores anything at the moment.

I still don't think he should be dropped however. These matches are not exactly vital. Selectors are already giving other players a go (ie Haddin), I wouldnt be surprised if players like Ponting got a rest soon either.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
let him play out this series (through finals) and if he doesnt improve by then (bull century next game ;) ) then err...drop him perhaps.

But he wasn't out, and he went on to score his 2nd unbeaten ton in the series...a career best no less...

hey rik ya cricket god... on the 2nd last ball of the indian innings... laxman struck a ball through cover... he ran 1 and tried for a second, the other batsman said no and he turned and lee debailed him :duh:

they showed the replay and no part of him or his bat was over the line... bu the umpire never bothered to check...

so really he wasn't unbeaten... cause he's not the best runner between wickets on the indian team...

Oh, woopdedo, so he doesn't get the little asterick next to his score... It was still brilliant.

^ It could have changed the the final target for Australia. D/L method takes into accout the total no. of wickets lost.

Only when an innings is interrupted. 296/4 and 296/8 after 50 overs would make no difference to a revised target as the 50 overs were not interrupted.

Yes, it was still brilliant, but do you know what impact it will have on his average?
That's one of the sillier let-offs I've ever seen. "It doesn't matter to the game so let's just not bother with the correct decision".

But the run-out had no credit to Lee.

He was damn lucky it wasn't 1\46. A wicket in the last over turned yet another pasting into an average of 23.
Typical.
Just a relief the same didn't happen to Harvey.

Why does it matter so much to you about his average? Its probably lifted it all of about 1, and he's adding to it today.

There's been plenty of times a lbw wasn't given out when it was plumb, or sitters being dropped, and at 10 times more crucial stages of an innings than this one, so why is this any different? Oh sorry, thats right when someone is dropped the rest of their innings don't count in your opinion, right?

When have I ever said it "doesn't count"?
Bad decisions rarely have a massive impact on a game (ie definitively cost a game to the team on the wrong end; for instance, it was said that Trescothick being given lbw at Kolkata cost England the match - wrong, their subsequent collapse did. Not to mention the fact that Trescothick was damn lucky to get more than 1). They are far more significant to averages; any bad decision is equally significant. If Laxman subsequently has a bad trot he can then have in his favour that he averaged X instead of 10 lower in this short period.
Personally I'm not complaining because I want Laxman's ODI average as high as possible, but a let-off is a let-off and the player is equally lucky regardless of the situation of the game.

actually, a unbeaten century significantly increases his avg for the series... This will then increase his chances of man of the series etc etc etc.

For example, gilly has 30 less runs than laxman,..although laxman has one extra game played

laxmans' avg was around 130...gilly was closer to 70...however, add that extra dismisal, and his avg will drop alot more...not sure of exact figures, but i'm guess it'll drop closer to 100

Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow.

See that button next to the "A"? The Caps Lock one? Can you use it next time, please?

I think you're a little over-infatuated with Brett, too - his performances have been off for the past 3 years, and are showing no signs of improving.

Welcome to CW :)

Something tells me the support is coming from someplace other than the heart...
