yeah anderson bowls better than Watson, but than again anderson cant bat, why?? he is a bowler, best in hios country in many peoples opinions, watson is an all rounder, and a very good one at that, he will get better but would never get picked as a bowler alone, esp not with people like lee, Gillespie and McGrath around

Some players just aren't gifted with the bat....like Walsh or Tuffnell or McGrath...

So how is he a good enough bowler to be classed an all rounder then?

I don't think his batting on its own would be good enough to warrent a place either currently.

Well, looks like Hogg can hold the bat aswell.

71* to save his side from looking down at a total below 200.

Not such a bad effortt for a guy who is 'not up to the standard'

it was a FANTASTIC innings!!!!! he didn't give 1 chance!! but no doubt some1's going to de-grade his performance! when he doesn't deserve n e de-grading!!!! a gr8 innings. btw it came off only 77 balls.

i like the fact Hogg is performing well now that Warney has announced his retirement. Hogg will really step up a notch as a permenant international cricketer and maybe he is the all rounder we have been looking for, id say hes going to bat at 7 in the cup and allow us to play the other 4 bowlers then.

Looks like he saw and read this thread!
So it's inconcievable that he was good enough from the start? :D

I know people harp on about Hoggs FC average but I challenge anyone to play half their FC games per season on the WACA, bowl left-arm wrist-spin and average lower...........I tell ya, there are guys who could do it but VERY few. Why do you guys think Stuart MacGill left Western Australia after his Academy stint? He leaves after everyone wrote him off as no good, had one good season with NSW (on a turning deck) and BAM, Test spot. Next thing you know he's a "once in a generation bowler".

I thought Hogg bowled very well, showing his googly to be effective. However, when batsmen start picking him I think he will struggle because he doesn't bowl amazing balls like warne which drift, dip and turn sharply... His biggest strength is that the batsmen don't know which way its gonna go.
IMO... :)

oh kim please do not compare Hogg to warne. warney is not a once in a generation bowler, hes a once in a century bowler. its going to be a very long time before we see someone like him again. (Note: chuckers not included).
Hogg will do a good job, hes a solid player who plays the game in good spirit. Fair enough he doesnt have the cricketing ability of a lot of the guys in the Aus team but he trys hard and gets results from that.

Brad Hogg looks like he going to be Warwickshire 2nd overseas player

(What do you think about that Marc71178)
I've always said he's a super player!

(Well actually I don't think I've ever criticised him)

If this is true - what's your source Chris? - I could see him taking a bagful of wickets against county batsmen!

I didn't meant o compare him to Warne... I knew I was gonna get told off for that... bugger.
ah well... main point: once his googly starts getting picked he might need to work on other ways to get the batsmen in trouble...
