Migara's side - don't think I could improve on that. Though an alternative to Atapattu (never really rated him) at the top of the order would be nice.

I'm going to guess that rvd never saw Gooch. Ditto Flem. Maybe KingKallis too, or perhaps he only saw a year or so of Gooch and thought it wasn't enough to include him. That's it, isn't it?
Gooch retired when I was like four. If I had seen him, he would have made it.:)

Haven't seen Amir Sohail play but have seen Ijaz Ahmad and Saleem Malik play. However I won't include them in my team because by the time I saw them they were pretty ****. Remember how terrible Ijaz was in the 99 WC.

Didn't see much of both (Ijaz Ahmed and Saleem Malik) but for some reason I feel Ijaz Ahmed would be a better choice then Misbah. I started following cricket in late 90s too and got really interested around 99 WC time, mainly because of Shoaib Akhtar

Ijaz would never be a better choice over Misbah.Too unpredictable. And his ass got in the way of playing cricket anyway.

Didn't follow Ijaz Ahmed's career, from what I saw of him of him I thought he would be better than Misbah. :) I guess my team would also have Misbah instead of Ijaz Ahmed :)

You must be of a similar age because that's pretty much what I would go with. The difference I have is I've got Gower at 3, he averages 50 there with 8 tons and then KP then Thorpe. Was thinking about Trott but I'll give him a a bit more time before he gets picked before Gower.

I was thinking of maybe having Tres open with Gooch but like you eventually went with Cook. Tempted to pick Robin Smith but couldn't find a place for him
even though he was a boss.

Bowlers pick themselves just about, thought about Gus Fraser and Gough but really like the attack we've got.

Wow, didn't realise Gower's record at first drop was so good. Will change my order around to match yours. :)

I wouldn't change Swann for Deadly, his unerring accuracy would have done very well out of DRS.

Only change since then Taylor for Astle in the Kiwi team.

England

Atherton
Strauss
Hussain
Vaughan
Thorpe
Pietersen
Stewart
Flintoff
Swann
Hoggard
S. Jones

Put approximately zero thought into this so there we go. Strauss over Tresco a controversial one hey.
Quite a bit of change here I think

Cook
Trescothick
Hussain
Trott
Pietersen
Thorpe
Prior+
Flintoff
Swann
Broad
Anderson

Batting order not important.

Cook the best opener of my time watching England, no-brainier that he comes in for Athers. He might have to skipper this lot as well
Tresco comes in for Strauss because I think it's fair to say he had a better Test career, unless Strauss has a final flourish I guess
Trott can't be ignored and I think that is an awesome middle order; Nasser statistically the weak link but worth his place
Prior for Stewart as he as accomplished more when performing the dual role
Broad in for S. Jones because his performance V India is the best I've ever seen by an England bowler, a title he potentially took from mr Jones (not sold on that mind you)
Anderson for Hoggard because he's better

Jeez, you're a whelp Corrin. All very modern names there.

The best combined England side I've seen is:

Martin Moxon
Kim Barnett
Ravi Bopara
Mathew Maynard
Graeme Hick
Mark Ealham (I mean, come on)
Geraint Jones
Paul Jarvis
Neil Foster
Mark Ilott
Nick Cook

Bringing the lols since the late 80s

Got into cricket in my teens. Would say our best sides, in order, in my time have been:

2010-present
2004-06
2000-01

All represented accordingly I guess
