Not really sure how Taibu could make the team ahead of someone like Paul Strang or even Henry Olonga - I'm assuming you've seen them (if not, forget about me).
I missed out on Paul Strang and I only got to see a bit of Henry a few matches before the black arm band thing and he was awful.

Besides, Taibu is a decent bat at 7 with a test average of 30.

Gambhir
Sehwag
Dravid
Tendulkar
Ganguly
Laxman
Dev
Dhoni
Kumble
H Singh
Khan

Others to miss out

Azharuddin, Kambli, Murali Kartik, Srinath

If Dev and Zaheer were playing in a test together atm we might actually compete in away tests a bit.

Taibu is the best wicket keeper they had, as well as being decent with the bat. Avrges close to 30 IIRC. And with plethora of allrounders in their side, they could afford a weak #7 given that 8 - 10 can score some valuable runs.

Not sure how Srinath-Zaheer would suddenly allow India to compete overseas.

Srinath had his moments, but he was a choker.Hardly anyone you could count on in pressure situations. Also, his overseas record is hardly anything to go by.Praveen Kumar has shown much more promise in alien conditions.Yes,the sample size is small currently, but the only reason Srinath might perhaps make an Indian team in overseas conditions to play alongside Zaheer would be a lack of better options - not because he was a world beater himself.

If Srinath was a part of an attack with Zaheer and Kapil, would have been a top class strike bowler, since former two tends to cushion such players from tense situations

Sorry guys, I had a moment.... I didn't write down the actual name I was thinking. Who I meant to say was Strang or Olonga instead of Chris Mpofu.

The best combined England side I've seen is:

Mark Ealham (I mean, come on)
Geraint Jones

Despite not having an embarrassment of riches in the pace department and even then Tapash Baisya doesn't belong in the Bangers ATXI tbh
