Mailey got a lot of overs and conceded an equal lot of runs. No time pressure on him either. And four of the batsmen made fifties.

Going against my normal thoughts, I vote Lillee. Mailey was undoubtably impressive, but a 9fer when the innings lasts over 100 overs and you conceed over 100 runs owes a lot to the lack of penetration of the bowlers from the other end.

Anyway, Ambrose. Both bowled at poor line-ups, but Ambrose absolutely took apart England, in a pressure situation when they needed just 194 to win they were 40/8 - McGrath had 500+ to play with, and his 8-for was partly due to Gillespie not being able to take any.
