Battle of the Test Bowling

The Wheel is Forever
10-0 to Patel. In the first round, I'll close it after like 6 hours in cases of runaways like this (at least 10 vote lead)...as it serves no purpose to keep it open and we have a lot to get through. After the first round, I won't close voting early.

Murali vs. Warne was pretty lop sided and unbiased (and boring[/B)], lets see about Ind. vs. Pak. ;). Bring in that crazy nationalistic bias.

Oddly enough, both of these performances are in a losing cause!

Kapil, because he was bowling to stronger batting line-up & it was in India where most of the pitches at that time where even flatter than now, so to take 9 wickets vs that WI batting line-up gives him my nod.

Tricky. Well done as the nine-for was, Kapil largely engineered it by not bowling Binny at all, despite his own bowling being ineffective against Marshall/Holding, and it was the first Test on this pitch, which fell apart. Wasim bowled well, and had Taylor dropped in the fourth over in addition to his six-for, but not quite good enough to be judged against this opposition.

Kapil.

if i remember correctly, it was not that flat a pitch, it was breaking up and assisted the bowlers a whole lot in the 2nd innings, the marshall-holding partnership was what won it for the windies because by the time india batted second, it was an absolute minefield and they were routed by the west indian 4-prong attack....anyway kapil's was a classy spell and gets my vote...

I think its great if people pick non-obvious choices. But if you do, do you mind explaining why? That breeds debate, which is much more fun than tallying up one word answers.

BARNES OUT
I saw neither of these, to be frank, but I've seen some highlights of the Wasim one and it was a true masterclass. Never mind the strength of the batting and the pitch conditions, Wasim was a true genius.

None of the ones that have come up against the 9-fers so far have really deserved to go through above it, but at least one of them should. Lara's 400 didn't go too far in the batting one and it was for one simple reason, weight of runs doesn't always defeat class. The same should be said for wickets. I've got no doubt Kapil's was class, and he was one hell of a cricketer, but Wasim is in a class above bowling-wise.

It would be boring, and an injustice, if the last 8 were all 9 and 10 wicket hauls.

Thank you. I actually tend to agree with you. But as I would just like people to say something if they don't vote for the obvious, because debate = good.

Virat Kohli (c)
Sarfraz Nawaz easily. Massive chance of winning this one. Laker and Hadlee stand in his way though.
