Battle of the Subcontinent

Mahindinho

State Vice-Captain
Close one!

I don't subscribe to the "all-rounder beats specialist" line - I mean, if that were the case, Chris Lewis would come in ahead of Glenn McGrath! I am still miffed that Murali lost to Imran, though :(

Anyway, this battle. Waqar is a great, but then so's Kapil Dev. Dev in his prime meant as much to India as Waqar did, possibly more, and you've got to be a decent bowler to take 400+ Test wickets!

On balance then, Kapil Dev just edges this one.

Waqar :p

You didn't say if the person shouldn't have voted before or not.

P.S: Why don't you count your own vote?
Because the last battle I was running, people accused me of pulling for one guy over another.

Beleg

International Regular
Arguably the best Pakistani batsman against (arguably) the best Indian batsman.

Sunil Gavaskar.

Beleg

Hence, arguably.

Certainly a decent case can be made for both Miandad and Hanif, but no other man has contributed to more Pakistan wins than Inzamam.* His average in tests won by Pakistan (over 40) is second only to Bradman.

* - The two W's excepted.

Edit: Miandad is highly overrated, IMO, specially as a test cricketer.

TBH I would rate Miandad and Hanif higher. And I would rate SRT higher.
I would almost agree with that. I do rate Miandad higher, but I think Inzi is ahead of the great Hanif. And I think SRT edges out Gavaskar.

Tough battle, but my vote for Gavaskar.

I would probably go:

1) SRT
2) Gavaskar
3) Dravid

and

1) Miandad
2) Hanif
3) Inzy

EDIT: But Beleg makes a good point for Inzy being higher.

I'd go Gavaskar, Dravid, Tendulkar and Miandad, Inzy, Hanif.
