I am absolutely astonished that its tied at this point. I wouldn't have given Dev a chance, and personally I would have voted for Waqar easily...maybe I am missing something?

Waqar was an all-time great bowler. Kapil was a very good bowler and a handy late-order batsman. Kapil was a superior fielder.

So far, it's advantage Waqar, just.

Kapil captained his side to a World Cup. That tilts it in Kapil's favor IMO.

But Waqar IMO was a far far superior bowler. Doesn't that offset Kapil's batting and his WC?

The only reason Kapil's batting alone doesn't put him ahead of Waqar is because Waqar was a far (only one, not two fars) superior bowler.
After you include the captaincy, though, I think Kapil gets the nod. Very very close though - either side has a good case.

Yes Kapil is in the lead...

Kapil was a better batsmen, fielder, and captain... while Waqar was only a better bowler!
