Battle of the Subcontinent

Pratters

Cricket, Lovely Cricket
Neither does it make sense because

a) It denies some good player a place.
b) It sets up a boring one sided matches.

I just gave you like 5. Sehwag, Jayawardene, Nazar, Venkatraghavan, Atapattu.
Take your pick.

EDIT: Add Shastri as a sixth option.

shastri should be there in the first 64. he can lose in the first round doesnt mater. but with 3000 runs and 150 wickets (at a horrible average, i admit) he definitely deserves to be in the top 64 sub continental cricketers ahead of all bangladeshis - this is not about being politically correct. also, shastri had 11 test hundreds - two against the best windies fast bowlers ever and three agains the best of pakistan - and played vital roles in many great tests (madras - 1986, lords - 1990, sydney - 1992, bridgetown - 1988, bombay 1985). fit him in somehow SS, i beg you!! (i was one of the die hard shastri fans in the mid 80s)

SS, you've got ten guys to consider adding into the list of 64 now. (including Sanz's nominations here)

Mahela Jayawardene
Mudassar Nazar
Marvan Atapattu
Srinivas Venkatraghavan
Ravi Shastri
Tiger Pataudi
Ajit Wadekar
Intikhab Alam
Roy Dias
Shoaib Akhtar

Remove the following: Javed Omar, Khaled Mashud, Madhav Apte, Mohammad Iqbal Qasim (Iqbal Qasim is already there), Mohammad Rafique, possibly Nayan Mongia

SS, how do you justify including Wasim Akram, considering what that judge said regarding how he was treated lightly, yet not include Azhar etc.

Not that I'm stating for one second that they are in similar boats (though who knows?), and I am a huge fan of Akram, but really, if you're going to get on your high horse and not include match-fixers, is it only those that were banned for life?

I feel that Azhar and Malik should be included. If people don't think they deserve their votes, they won't vote for them.

Well, I can only go by the punishments given out. Since I wasn't in on the hearings, I can't say what happened. You can call it a high horse if you want, but don't you think it would inappropriate if Azhar or Malik beat out someone else in any rounds?

Exactly. Hansie was included in the Battle of the Test Captains.

And he lost because people didn't want to vote for him. I wouldn't have put him in there in the first place.

He didn't lose by much IIRC.
Nope, and it ****ed me off that he didn't. In any case, if someone else feels strongly about this, they can run the competition and include whoever they want. If you want to run it, let me know, and I'll step down.

Otherwise, they stay off.

I disagree with you on this but not to the point that I want you to step down.

As for the exclusions: Sachin Tendulkar
