If I'd introduced a seeding system, it would have constituted me choosing who the best 8/16 players were anyway, thus defeating the point of a battle.

because A i do not know who moore is !
And therein lies the problem.

I should be impartial as the organiser, but IMO Moore = greatest defender of all time, bar none, and also the greatest captain.

I'll vote for Moore just for the fact that he's won a WC even though I think Henry's a better player.

How can people be voting for Henry?

Moore
How can people question other's voting for Henry over Moore yet go ahead and vote for Shearer, who clearly IS NOT a better player, over Figo. As for anulling a result.. ffs.

Oh that's right they're all English! Ask anyone else worldwide who knows more about football than the premier league crap they get shoved down their throat's and they'll tell you it's a no contest.

Erm, didn't the FA launch the PL?

Cantona was never someone who "scored for fun" - and his omission from the French side wasn't based on football ability.
Zidane was put in ahead of Cantona by a World Cup winning coach (which incidentally makes him one of the best coach's ever according to Barney's logic) .

Or are you going to tell me that Cantona was a far better player than Zidane?

Pele said he was the best defender he ever played against, and who the hell are we to argue? 8-)
Perhaps he was only the best defender of Pele's era???? ;)

What's funny about that? 8-) And you could argue that you can't comment on any but current era players as you've not seen the others play so you may as well close this thread down and start a thread for best current football player as we can't even vote on half of these.

Bobby Moore by about 10 zillion miles.

WC winning captain and all-time great, Henry equals rather unproven on a national level.

Point is, if Pele considered himself to be challenged by Moore, what greater endorsement of a defender's abilities could there be?

Why isn't Francesco Totti up there? He and Ronaldinho are far above the rest... And like some of you guys say (moore case) Pelè said Totti is the best football player today in the game... much better than Ronaldinho...

Totti's a quality player, but he's mostly not in there because a) he's never consistently produced on the international stage, and b) I hate him. You can't go spitting on players whenever you like and expect no-one to care. It was touch and go whether I included Keane, too.

And no, Totti's not better than Ronaldinho. Not by a long shot.

Also, I can't read that article as it's in Italian, so for all I know you could be lying. :p
