Sir Richie of Benaud for me too. Maybe not quite in the first rank of all-rounders, but a v good bowler & a useful lower-middle order man.

This has probably been said, but why are we voting on cricketing ability? Bradman or Sobers will win easily and we all know that. I know if we voted on who we prefered, either of those could still win, but the margin wouldn't be so huge.

I think the "cricketing ability" stipulation is just an indicator to judge Benaud on his playing days rather than as a commentator or legend identity... Generally, I just vote for who I prefer, although I try to keep it relevant to what goes on on the field...

This one's a really tough one. Richie was a very good cricketer, but you have to wonder at and respect a West Indian finger-spinner taking 300+ test wickets. By all accounts Lance Gibbs could get good bounce and turn on any surface, and he was obviously extremely difficult to score off.

When I was just a kid, my grandfather used to show me through his cricket books. He once showed me a full page color photograph of Gibbs's damaged fingers, after years of very long spells tweaking the ball - it was quite disgusting.

Gibbs for me. Tough one this, compared to the Richards belting of Hayden in the previous match-up.

Yep, I vote for who I prefer as well.
