Wow, another Clash Of The Titans.

Have to go for AAD, put the fear of God into Athers and that's good enough for me. Also had the coolest nickname ever.

athough in the great battles with athers it was athers who would emerge the victor a great deal of the time.

Yep - but having read Athers' autobiography, you get the clear impression that although Athers wasn't frightened of any bowler, he was.........wary, shall we say, of Donald.

Just a note, but in the next matchup,a great fast bowler (possibly Top 10) goes up against a Top 5 batsman.

And those figures are ever.

Get gossiping and voting :p

Just in case I happen to be right - I reckon it's Willis against Hutton. :p

I'm picking Holding against Richards. ;)

Anyway, my vote here is for Donald. Great bowler.

Never saw Chandrasekhar play, but he and Bedi (and the rest of the Indian spinners of that era) were obviously very formidable. One thing I'm curious about is his arm - was it dramatically withered, or mostly undetectable? Anybody got a pic?

I'll have to vote Donald here though, 'cause a) I saw him play and b) he was an incredible fast bowler. He probably hung around too long, and as a result, it seems in some ways like his legacy was a bit mediated by his toothlessness towards the end of his career. But at his peak, he was clearly both terrifying and ruthlessly efficient. And I thought his recollections of what it was like playing cricket in England and being suddenly educated as to the wrongness of apartheid were very interesting.

Havent got a pic, but footage of him suggests that he couldnt hold his arm vertical under its own strength for more than a couple of seconds.
