Time for my last starter.

He's got a blazing fastball, devastating slider and a beard. He was an instrumental part of one of the best rotations of all time and then made a successful transition to closer, then back to starter. He sports a career 3.26 ERA (127 ERA+), a 210-147 record, over 300 strikeouts, a Cy Young in 1996, and will one day be in the hall of fame.

To team up with Rollie Fingers in the bullpen, I've got a dominant left-hander with a three figure fastball. He's struck out an unbelievable 11.7 batters per 9 innings over his career, while racking up 385 saves, good for 6th all time.

Billy Wagner

Magrat Garlick

I think I can make my picks by now.

I’ll take Bruce Sutter as my middle reliever. Though with my starting rotation I’m not likely to need any relievers/closers, it’s nice to know that I have dominant ones in Sutter and Eckersley. At the time of his retirement, he had the NL record for saves. To point out his dominance as a reliever, he is the first pitcher to be elected to the Hall of Fame who never started a game. Cy Young award winner, 6 time All-Star, and owner of a World Series ring.

Paul Molitor will by my DH. A hall of famer and a World Series MVP. He could hit for both average and power, the perfect DH combo. Molitor is one of four players in major league history with at least 3,000 hits, a .300 lifetime batting average, and 500 stolen bases (others are Cobb, Wagner, and Collins, so pretty awesome company). And oh, Molitor hit more HR’s than the other 3.

Fusion's team:

C Ivan Rodriguez
1B Jimmie Foxx
2B Eddie Collins
3B Eddie Matthews
SS Ernie Banks
DH Paul Molitor
RF Reggie Jackson
CF Tris Speaker
LF Barry Bonds

SP Walter Johnson
SP Cy Young
SP Bob Gibson
SP Bob Feller
SP Don Drysdale
MR Rollie Fingers
CL Dennis Eckersley

A little bit later I will present an analysis of my team and comprehensively prove why it's the best one of the draft!

My picks - Tony Gwynn and Phil Niekro.

So my team:

Roberto Clemente (CF)
Cal Ripkin, Jr. (DH)
Ted Williams (LF)
Jackie Robinson (2B)
Derek Jeter (SS)
Roy Campanella (C)
Willie McCovey (1B)
Tony Gwynn (RF)
George Brett (3B)

Rotation:
Tom Seaver (SP)
Catfish Hunter (SP)
Hal Newhouser (SP)
Charles Radbourn (SP)
Rube Waddell (SP)
Phil Niekro (MR)
Trevor Hoffman (CL)

The starting rotation isn't quite as imposing as some of you have, but I love my batting lineup and I've got a fairly decent closer. Pretty pleased with that.

I was tossing up between Ripkin and Jeter for the SS. The fact that Jeter has won the Gold Glove on one more occasion, and a couple of particularly memorable awesome plays he's made, swung it in his favour.
