I think I can make my picks by now.
I’ll take Bruce Sutter as my middle reliever. Though with my starting rotation I’m not likely to need any relievers/closers, it’s nice to know that I have dominant ones in Sutter and Eckersley. At the time of his retirement, he had the NL record for saves. To point out his dominance as a reliever, he is the first pitcher to be elected to the Hall of Fame who never started a game. Cy Young award winner, 6 time All-Star, and owner of a World Series ring.
Paul Molitor will by my DH. A hall of famer and a World Series MVP. He could hit for both average and power, the perfect DH combo. Molitor is one of four players in major league history with at least 3,000 hits, a .300 lifetime batting average, and 500 stolen bases (others are Cobb, Wagner, and Collins, so pretty awesome company). And oh, Molitor hit more HR’s than the other 3.
