A couple people I'm looking forward to see how well they play in the warm up game:

Dane Vilas
Divan Van Wyk (brother of Morne)
David Weise
Khayelihle Zondo

Weise has been withdrawn, his in the Titans MTN squad. As has Vilas, who has been called up by the Lions.

Zondo has a decent rep, the kid had a full sponsorship deal when he was only 15 and was the second youngest cricketer to represent Natal/the Dolphins.

Saw van Wyk bat as a kid, he looked promising, in fact I think I played against him.. I always thought he had gone off to the UK in search of a Kolpak deal

Hope Bamgladesh manage to be slightly competitive, and I am interested in watching some of their players I have not seen in Test format. Fully expect SA to dominate in a positive and aggressive manner. Steyn and Morkel must terrify them. Certainly a chance for one or two Bangladeshi's to make a name for themselves.

Yeah looking forward to this tomorrow.. Hope Bangladesh aren't even competitive and it's an absolute mauling.. Anything less would be showing weakness to the Aussies

1. why is razzak not playing?
2. Why are they bowling 1st after winning the toss?:-O
I just got in from work and that was the first thing that came to my mind...

Looks a good batting surface and the weather is fine.

As for Razzak he just got back from Australia yesterday. He had to go and have his action checked out after being called for chucking during the New Zealand series.

Hmm, to me it seems like theyve gone for 2 defensive options, the obvious one being bowling 1st, the 2nd one being having naeem as the frontline spinner instead of razzak. He really is more of a 1 day bowler compared to Razzak. I think they just want the extra batting depth.

Naturally from a SA point of view it is important they take control early and never relinquish their firm hold on the game. For a neutral I would quite like to see a semi-competitive Test, not likely though.

Yes just touching on what you've both commented upon, Ashraful's decision to bowl first is a bit of a safety first policy, clearly has more faith in his bowlers than his batsmen, so kind of understandable, especially with their inconsistency.

The bowlers have been economical first up but have been a touch too short, just another yard or so fuller would have made it much more difficult, they needed to make good use of the movement there has been early on, but perhaps have not made the most of it. Shahadat into the attack now, was quite surprised he wasn't given the new ball with Mortaza.

Yes Shahadat looking quite good here. I think hes gained a yard or 2 since I last saw him. He def should have opened, he did take that 6/27 a while back.

Mind you I have been reasonably suprised at how well Alam has bowled

Crawling start by SA, but if Bangladesh do not take a few wickets soon they will probably be ground into the dust.

Good start for Bangladesh, and excellent to see Mashrafe leading by example.

They are trying to bore a wicket here. A novel approach I guess...

Anyhow record breaking stuff from Captain Smith and Neil Mac, as they record their 10th fifty partnership in 10 consecutive tests. Also their record as an opening pair is the second best of all-time currently and they could overtook Hobbs and Sutcliffe if they add another sixty more...
