Then why do you keep asking me? lol

My judge of character and perception is so freakishly good that it scares me, and sometimes I forget that others don't have the same gifts. I apologise for that. The thought of Lyon as captain just makes me a bit sick in the stomach, even more so than the thought of Warner as captain.
Hey man, you can't say that. He's a great team guy, you LITERALLY don't need any other qualities as captain.

You've said that Lyon captaining one test if Smith was injured would be a "joke" and make you "sick in the stomach".

I'm curious as to why. Why would it make you sick and why would it be a joke?

That's not the point anyway. And…I'd argue the main prerequisite for a VC is being a great team guy, the most liked guy in the team is always a very effective VC. Going back it's been Haddin, Gilly, Geoff Marsh, Rod Marsh, Neil Harvey….

I feel like this thread desperately needs an Aussie red ball match so we can jump to conclusions about certain players once again.

Voges may gain some confidence in his vice captaincy nod. Might feel as though he is a bit more established which can't be a bad thing.

Also, it's easier to hand it back to Warner from Caretaker Voges then it would be from the lovable Lyon.

I literally agreed with this in my post. We need a bit of a **** for a VC though, or for someone to become a total ****. Haddin did such a great job at making Australian cricket look good that his loss is going to be greatly felt. If Gaz can do that he has my vote, Warner would be perfect if he hadn't been brainwashed into believing being utterly offensive was bad.

Not sure Warner's been "brainwashed" into thinking that.

I think spending time at the IPL might have brought along a lot of it.

Lmao Bangladesh have deliberately not picked a spinner for Australia's warm up game to not give them any decent practice, and they straight out admitted it too.

Home advantage is great, but at least do what England do and come up with some bull**** like "oh the pitches are just dry this year" or something lol

I wonder when teams like Australia, Sri Lanka, South Africa will catch on to this tactic of maximising home advantage.

When we become desperate for a win?

So this summer maybe.

Against WI and NZ?

don't think so

Kind of baffles me that if anything Australia tend to go the other way and give the touring side any possible advantage to be competitive.

edit: actually we'll have a pretty inexperienced side this summer, you're right. Could be interesting.

If you're going to do that to a touring team you may as well just ask them to bring their own players for a warm up game.

Maybe we just need FIFO tours if home countries aren't going to assist acclimatising the tourists by fielding decent opponents in warm ups. Just go the full Buchanan and organise a touring team camp, set up a few pitches to best resemble what you expect to find and bring along an A team to play against.

I think something like that will end up happening. Tour matches are almost just a complete waste of time these days. You've got state sides picking 3rd XIs, deliberately trying to keep the touring side from getting match practice, half the times it's like 2 day games anyway.

It would be great to see a full tour again. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for the young players coming through to add to their already overburdened schedules. International matches with dollar signs wrapped around them won't go anywhere so extra tour matches are unfortunately a dream.
Add to that the powers that be see home test wins as more profitable than teams meeting on closer to level terms.

Well its not as if there's a Champions' League on this year to take away from the Aussie team.
If they put up a weak side, maybe we should play 15 thats what India did last tour from what I can remember,or the tour before that.

Shuvagata Hom is one of the leading spinners now in domestic. Mahmudul, Mosaddek all bowl spin too. Yeah BCB could name a primary frontline spinner but the team is not totally void of a spinner. Either way we don't have anyone up in the sleeve who is going to surprise Australia in the Tests. I'll be surprised if the bowling tactic sorrounds spin only.
