My XI from that squad:

1. S Marsh
2. G Maxwell
3. S Smith*
4. J Burns
5. A Voges
6. M Marsh
7. P Nevill
8. S O'Keefe/P Siddle
9. M Starc
10. P Cummins
11. N Lyon

Yeah. I'm picking Maxwell to open. That's how utterly **** this squad is.

Red

The normal awards that everyone else has
Johnson and Hazlewood being rested. Weird that they're keeping an overcooked Starc around though.
Exactly. Johnson and Hazelwood have already had 3 weeks off cricket.

laughed when i read that usman will get an extended run in the team. i assume that changes if we lose a match anytime soon

the big bambino

Cricketer Of The Year
Andrew Fekete is the selection I don't understand. Guy is 30 and has played only 18 FC games.

Hardly tore it up for Australia A recently either.

What's he done? I don't know anything about him.
Ability to reverse it according to Rod Marsh. Then it became a shoot out btwn Patto and Cummins. Trouble is I can't see Fekete competing for a test spot. Patto I can. So despite the reverse swing thing I don't think he should've got in over Pattinson.

I've also heard Burns might be the reserve batsman. Sink me if so. From the squad I'd pick;

Burns, Khawaja, S Marsh, Smith, Voges, M Marsh, Nevill, SO'K, Starc, Siddle, Lyon.

Ideally I'd like Starc and Cummins but Siddle bcos I don't want to burden a busy Starc with Cummins fitness not yet proven over 5 days.

S Marsh - yeah I know. But he has runs in the sub con so there you go. Khawaja opens before he's hypnotised by spin.

Well it's interesting at least.

Delighted to see SOK back recognised as one of our top two spinners with a red ball. Hope he plays both tests.

Resting Haze and MJ but playing Starceh seems weird. Would have thought it was a great tour for Haze to play.

Usman is as others have noted also a bit strange. He's not been terribad in the Shield just injured mostly, but I'd have thought he should have been further down the pecking order.

I like Fekete, but for sure Sandhu would have been the horses for courses pick for this one. Not that I think either will/would play. I suspect the thinking on Patto might be that these ain't the pitches for him and he's better off staying home.

Glad to see Maxwell picked. I think he's a good shout at playing even if we play two spinners.

I'd say P Siddy and Starc will be the two main quicks and it will be between SOK and Cummins.

Don't have a problem with Bancroft touring, but I hope it's as a development player, not as a likely starter.

Something like:

Burns
Smarsh
TPC
Voges
Maxwell
Mmarsh
Nev
Starceh
SOK
PSiddy
Lyno

would do me.

So basically the 'A' side picked was in view to the next in line for Australia.

There was no Chris Lynn, Ed Cowan or Michael Klinger in the 'A' side. George Bailey got a chance and seen as a limited overs only player.

So they went from who performed on the international stage (A tour) which is what it is there for ?

So Callum Ferguson, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Nic Maddinson next in line ? Clearly looking to the future now.

Stoinis looks pants and to me like Fekete is an arb selection.

Would love that side without Smarsh

However Maxwell probably won't play, because it's basically been confirmed that Khawaja is in and Smith will move down to 4

Picking Fekete ahead of a guy like Sandhu is stupid

I know he won't play but that's just a bad selection whichever way you look at it

No Pattinson? Two frontline spinners in CTG will be overkill. I would think of 3 frontline pacers with Lyon and Maxwell to support Lyon. Bangladesh has the right kind of batting line up for Lyon to get success.

Starc, Siddle, Cummins, Lyon, Maxwell (6)

I really don't mind Pattinson not playing either; keep him on short form cricket (in terms of workload, not that he's better at it) until the Shield.

Yeah Novak is an atg, but 4 out of 23 break points taken and 1 of 11 from 2nd serves, Roger like he did at Wimbledon wasted to many chances.

I understand how a Federer fan would have found that infuriating viewing, so similar to their last 2 Wimbledon finals in how it went down ultimately.

The crowd can **** off as well, nothing wrong with cheering Roger, but complete lack of respect for Novak throughout was disgusting.
How does this affect the thinking of the Australian Cricket selectors for the next 12 months?

i'm alright with the squad as long as we don't see usman at 3 and smitteh at 4 which is definitely what's going to happen.

adub's team is what i'd go for
